Automatic IP settings stopped working today . I did not change a thing just started the laptop and no conection to my ethernet lan. It just trys to aquire ..... So I forced the con by switching to and entering manual address settings under use the following IP address. and I get a perfect conection again. Then I went back to auto settings just to check and again no good . Rebooted a few times and still no auto, but perfect forced manual settings. I have two pc's on a linksys ethernet router and the other pc works perfect with auto settings. I tried switching cables from one to the other and still the same problem. could it be the network adapter driver? or anything else ? I have no more ideas.

I will try anything
Please help
Robert

Well today I tried resetting the modem and router by unplugging the power cord to both for one minute. Now its working again on automatic IP settings. I hope this helps someone with the same problem someday. To do this turn off pc then unplug power cords on router and modem...wait one minute...plug in and wait another minute....restart pc...then switch back to auto settings.
