Hi,

I was checking in the Comms cabinet yesterday and noticed that eth1 on the edgerouter had the orange light on for 10/full and when i logged in I saw the same (a purple icon on eth1). I have made sure its running the latest firmware and tried different cables into different ports on the switch and get the same result. eth0 is running at 1000 and if i unplug the cable from eth1 i get a solid green.

Are there any suggestions as to what might be going on?

What is on the other end of the cable plugged into eth1?

Old switch by chance, if PC, force via drivers instead of auto negoiate.

Even switches sometimes need a reboot.

coffeebaron: Dust in the sockets?

If you can get 10Mb, you should be able to get 100Mb over the same connection if it has dropped a pair. Unless it was really really bad....

Thanks for the advice, but still no dice. I'm now wondering if its some weird bug.

Ive tried:

  • Different switch
  • Cleaning port.

The eth1 port still says 10/full while the switch its plugged into says 1000.

I also tried replugging in the samknows box and that goes from eth1 into WAN on the samknows box. Again i see 10/full on the edgerouter but when i do a test from the box i get 850Mbps on the test so eth1 is clearly doing more that 10/full.

If the throughput is over 10Mb then it's probably just a bug in the UI.

Yeah, I guess so.

Not just the UI though if the physical LED is showing amber.
