Can anyone help me??? I have a Creative Zen that is frozen and cannot be reset. The front controls are not responding and a few more faults.

Does anyone know of someone that fix's these type of players??

I have been to Morningstar, NZ Distributors, they are unable to help me. I have been to Creative Services in Australia and all they could do was suggest a few things to do, they were of no help. They also suggested I contact Morningstar for help.

Please help me!! I love my Zen and Im missing it so badly right now!

T.

does this model have a removable battery? Have you tried removing it for 30 minutes or so?

Also, if it's new (under warranty) then you should be entitled to repair or exchange (whatever available from the manufacturer) if this is a genuine fault (not something caused by mishandling, external force, water damage, etc).

Contact the store where you bought it and ask for information on how to get to an authorised service agent.

Hi, thanks for the advice. It is out of warranty. The store I got it from could only refer me on to Morningstar. It doesn't have a removable battery and Im not sure how the fault occured but it has been well used.

Do you know of anyone that service these type of machines?

These devices are so integrated and it could be probably cheaper to purchase a latest model instead of paying for the repair - that is, providing it's possible to find a repair centre in first place.

there is quite a problem with creative devices freezing. however their website offers solutions on "Recovery Mode: What to Do And How To Access" linking doesn't work but if you go to www.creative.com -> support -> knowlege base and select you player.

Usually involves plugging in to power with no battery, holding certain combinations of buttons and standing on one foot while facing east. My creative Muvo locked up and I found how to get it going again on this site.

Thanks Creative for not exactly admitting you have issues but at least giving resolutions :)

DO NOT TOUCH THE BATTERY!

I have had this before, what you need to do is

1. Connect the player to the mains via the power cable.
2. Straighten out a paper clip.
3. Hold down the Play/Pause button, and poke the paperclip through the reset hole (still holding down the play/pause button)
4. This will acces the recovery mode. Scroll down and go to reboot. Press the OK button.

I can't remember if this resets the data though?

But once you have control of the zen head on over to their website and update the firmware (this certainly wipes all songs but is soooo worth it) I have updated mine twice and now haven't had a problem since.

Hope I am not too late to help.

Hi and thanks for all your help. That last piece of advise I will try now and let you know. I have tried everything by now and nothing works, soooooo fingers crossed!!  I cannot believe that a piece of hardware like this cannot be serviced and put back into place! Not cool at all especially at $500+ for this machine!! Makes you want to buy the cheaper version for sure!!

Hi there, I have tried but the problem with that solution is that the scroll is not working so I cannot scroll to the reset, haha. Damn thing! I am tempted to open it up and have a play, I don't see how I have much to lose now. Thanks for your help.
