Stu:

Would you be able to post a link to the battery/seller you used, please? Might have a look at trying the same.

https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007321557218.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.23.1ca41802DgBCn5&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm

Might be out of stock... and the price is higher since a couple of weeks ago  but plenty of others selling the same thing.

Unless you want to Dremel out your weather station make sure you get the same size (1300mAh)

Actually DM me your address and I'll send you one

To follow up on this, I replaced the battery on Monday. It fired up fine, but the solar panels weren't showing anywhere near the UV levels expected (compared with another unit not far from me). I hoped it was just the station recalibrating or something. Today I noticed a massive temperature spike, and it's now in power save mode and most sensors are offline. Might dig out the original Tempest if I can find it and put the new battery in that.

Mine is still going strong with new battery. The voltage is not going anywhere near as low as with the old battery.. luck of the draw I guess.

It was certainly worth giving it a go. Thanks for sending up the battery, it is most appreciated.

New to this thread, but am looking to replace my weather station. I have a TESA WS2980C Pro Weather Station, purchased from PB Tech, which has already been replaced under warranty once, but is starting to fail again with several sensors no longer working.

The GW2001 Wittboy looks like an interesting option. Has this been a reliable/accurate station for you @xbmcnut @Talkiet ?

the Tesa is a re branded FineOffset station. They area usually pretty reliable. I have a different model but similar and it has hit 6 years without missing a beat.
I believe Ecowitt are the home brand of FineOffset so you are still buying from the same company. The newer stations are rated pretty well
