Looks good!

I've got some spare 32mm pipe....but I think I need steel if I'm going to clamp it another steel structure as I worry the metal clamps (either the hoop type or the hose clamp types) will cause the plastic pipe to stress and shatter at the compression points within the space of a couple of years...and I'm hoping that the weather station will last longer than that....

For anyone interested - how I mounted my Tempest:

How does the Tempest know about wind direction? Do you need to explicitly tell it which way some part of it is facing?

The details I've seen indicate there is an arrow on it which you use with a compass to have to point south, this is so the solar panels on it point north to catch the sun

You point it South or North depending on which hemisphere you're in. In the config you tell it where in the world you are and everything is magically corrected accordingly....so for us the panels *will* point to the north.

Goodbye Sky Dish....hello Tempest! Very easy install. 30 seconds to fling the old dish into the garden below, 60 seconds to clamp on a new length of galvanised pipe, 30 seconds to pop the tempest on the pole. Took longer to get the tools....even less time than the 5 minutes of fart arsing around trying to find a north reference point as my phone kept asking for 'figure of 8' calibration....but it's in and working so chalking that up as a win for today!

That's great news! I can already see a lot of new weather stations popping up so there's clearly be a lot of people who have received them. And no...not a pink station, just the dulcet tones of the sunset...and a red roof.....

The lightning detection works too.....so that's cool!

Be aware that Weatherflow have removed the option of showing the forecasts in one of the screens from the latest version of the App.

Weatherflow reply below.... I was trying to help a friend who just received one on how I did it....and could no longer find the option!

"That feature has actually been removed from the app. I believe if people had it enabled when the app updated, then it would stay there, but there is no way to add it anymore.

You can easily view the forecast from the main home screen.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Kind Regards,
Preston Roesslet
WeatherFlow Support"

Hope that helps anyone with a "new" one.

The bird spike kit takes up little room. It's in a little plastic bag and is flat. They actually refunded about half of my freight cost!

I got my email invite this morning too. I’ve wanted one of these for a while but I also have the full Netatmo system too, not sure how I’ll be presenting the business case to the wife yet.

It's a hard life. You might be able to get a good return for the Netatmo on TradeMe....?

As there seem to be a number of these units now installed in NZ can we have feedback from members as to what they think about operation, accuracy etc?

Cheers

Best (So far!) Weather Station I have owned so far.

Rain may be off for a bit here compared to 2 other I have running but seems to average out right.

Wind direction etc is spot on. Temp/Humidity all agree.

Lightening detector incredibly accurate compared to others and lightening radar.

Very impressed so far (As are others I know of)
