See above!

It would be great if you could get Amazon to email you whenever new books from authors you select come out.

Can you do that?

Does sound useful but I don't know, sorry.
Relevant, however, may be freebooksifter.com which lists ebooks that are currently free on amazon. You can sort by genre and customer rating etc.

Cheers,
Joseph

And goodreads.com will notify you when an author you've read before has a new book.

I get emails too. Perhaps it's a kindle thing? Normally a month before it's available I'll get a reminder, so I'll usually pre-order it then.

I know you can pre-order books, but how I got the notification I could not tell you.

Wilbur Smith's new book is out tomorrow, I placed the order on 17th June, awaiting wireless delivery tomorrow or Wednesday ( depending on whose Oct 1 it uses).
