Noticed something odd when charging phones and tablets .... if one plugs charging cable into device and then turns power on, the charging time goes very quickly.

However, if the power is already on and one just plugs the 'live' cable into the device, the charging time seems to be two or three times longer.

Maybe it's just me? 😁

shouldn't make a difference, so probably imagining things?

however, apps like Ampere will tell you what the charging rate is for each of those conditions.

It might depend on the phone and the charger. I've not noticed this issue but I'll keep an eye out and see if I notice anything. My Samsung chargers seem to charge modern phones at around 20W either way.

I always thought my Pixel charged faster when turned off at night. I put that down to lower temps or inactive temp control when off. I never tried to measure it.
