Had to remind myself not to get hit by a bus leading up to the launch. Phew. Queueing up was worth it.
The store I got mine had double digit stocks only. Staff came out and cut off the line who was waiting for a 32 gb model. All in all about 15-20 units of 32gb were sold that day. Considering the phone does HD videos and 5megapixel images, I think it makes sense to get the bigger version.

myndlyz: but why was any reference to the iphone removed from their site (vodafone)?? thats what i cant understand

Either a) someone decided to update the information and the web admins were not fast enough putting up new pages (unlikely) or b) Apple demanded Vodafone take down reference to iPhone from their site due to disagreements.

You take your pick...

Oh definitely A.

Remember Vodafone is the only network that Apple trusts so it couldn't possibly be B.......

I dunno why but I feel like If I claim my free case I will be forfeiting Any other fix for the reception issue that may or may not be announced after september 30. So I'm hesitant to sign in with my apple account when you open the app...

Im sure they are making the workers down in Shenzhen slave harder to churn out more and more units to meet demand. Hopefully get no more suicides!!

Obviously we are far far down the food chain in terms of priority for apple. Or is it a sign of apples displeasure with VFNZ? Either way getting next to no units sucks.

But lets have some perspective! Its just a bit of tech....im sure we can handle the wait!

Good point that.  No one has so far reported any dropped calls etc.  I would wait a few months to see if Apple finally decides to admit defeat on this matter.

Well got my phone Friday. Phew. What a few stressful days leading up. I do feel for those who missed out at this stage.

A few observations from the store and phone:

The store I was at had 20 units delivered by Armourgaurd at 11:55am.

There were 6 of us there to get one and by the time I left this had grown to about 10.

I almost had to break up a fight after one customer was told that he could not get one as he was not going to do a resign. When he expressed his obvious displeasure another guy waiting called him a prick and you can imagine the ensuing exchange!

The Vodafone staff in store were fantastic and I feel for them taking the brunt of peoples frustration with Apple/Vodafone executives sitting in ivory towers.

I am impressed with the phone. Retina display has to be viewed in the flesh - simply stunning. I have had no reception issues (to date).

Hope that those waiting get your orders sooner rather than later.

You can certainly cause the reception to drop significantly on both of mine, just by putting a finger across the black bar. Hasn't caused any issues in day to day use yet though.

TBH the only significant feature over the 3gs is the light. Other than that its all much of a muchness. In fact the squareness of it feels awful in your hand compared to the 3gs.

Other than having the latest apple toy I'd rather the 3gs.
