Dynamike: 3Now is now available.... Yay

HD content??

Unfortunately not, just SD on my ADSL connection. Perfectly watchable, but not amazing. I don't mind sacrificing a bit of quality considering there were no ads! :)

I have VDSL and more than enough speed for good HD content from the likes of Netflix. I am pretty sure the lack of quality on the TV3 app on Apple TV is not because of your limited bandwidth.

TV channels in NZ need to get with the times. TVNZ is only in SD on their Smart-TV app as well.

It's really tempting now that 3Now is available, but I can't help feeling that I'd be better to save the $300/$400 and put it towards an upgrade to a My Freeview capable TV in a couple of years.

I had trouble with an Aussie iTunes account with payment set to none for some reason... any tips?  I would quite like to use the 7plus app

Having just upgraded to a FreeviewPlus TV with Android TV providing Amazon Instant, Hulu, Netflix and Plex, I'm about to give up my brand new ATV4 as I can't see much point in it any-more. If only I knew I was going to upgrade my TV before I brought the ATV.

Hmmm. I remember it wouldn't accept my OneSmart card, so I think I left it as blank. I might be completely wrong, but I seem to remember that if you're creating an account with no payment method, you have to do it by initially downloading a free app from that store, then following the "create account" prompts from that. That used to be the case, anyway. Might have changed since.

That's right. Thanks.
The other thing was the phone number. If it is invalid it doesn't tell you that. It just says to contact support with no reason.
All fixed.
Although the plus7 app won't AirPlay. I hope that have one for Apple TV. They suggest to mirror but that doesn't go full screen on the tv due to the different aspect ratio.

Couldn't find the plus7 app, but Tenplay is there. Have created an ozzie account now and "tuned" Unotelly Dynamo so I have access. :) Getting international with the AppleTV now. Have a US, UK, Norwegian, Australian and New Zealand account at this stage :D

Can anyone who bought an ATV4 provide some feedback on using Plex. Any limitations? We keep home videos of kids etc. and would be great to be able to view those on ATV

If someone would make and Android or Windows phone app for the new Apple TV I'd most likely buy one  if not I'll stick with my ATV3..

gb5757870: Can anyone who bought an ATV4 provide some feedback on using Plex. Any limitations? We keep home videos of kids etc. and would be great to be able to view those on ATV

I have a Mac mini with a 9TB RAID hooked onto it running OSX server.
I have iTunes/iPhoto sharing turned on.
I run an App called "Playback" that allows the Xbox to access the movies etc too (its a UPnP server)
I have also ripped all of my CDs/DVDs onto it (took over a year of doing it slowly)
I have all of our movies of grandkids / family events etc on their too.
It also acts as a time machine server for all of our computers.
It also acts as a DNS/DHCP/Print server as well as a host of other functions

And it all works well, though I HATE the new remote, so much we have gone back to using our old one.
When scrolling down log lists of stuff being able to click-hold the down button is far superior to swipe...swipe....swipe....swipe
Ok, I will relent and stay the HDMI-CEC is a good addition on the new remote, but if we are going to pick up a 2nd remote
we will grab the TV one for changing volume.

I am going to say it, the new remote is the worst Apple design in a LONG time

Siri when it works in NZ may help, a bluetooth keyboard would be a MAJOR upgrade.
I have a long email address so putting that and a long password into all of the requires places using the new
input method means a number of expletives we yelled and the parentage of the design engineers was called into question.
I really do believe that remove would NEVER have passed the "Jobs test" .

As for the "screen saver", love those slow flyovers, especially the one over NYC at night, we were busy comparing
out photos with the aerial view of the places we went to in Times Square.

Have loaded Netflix on, TV3 on and the 2 minutes I took to see if they worked before I went to a pub quiz they seemed to
do the job. I will have more time over the weekend to see how they actually perform. The odd show on Netflix with my ATV3 we had sound sync issues where the sound was about 1/2 out of sync. I am presuming the ATV4 with more storage my download/buffer a whole show as quick as it can instead of slowly streaming it in near real time. I will have a look at my network traffic stats to see what it is doing.

Thanks for that detailed and honest feedback. At least one other person in this thread has said they were able to use Siri using NZ Regional settings. Sounds like not the case for you?

sir1963:  The odd show on Netflix with my ATV3 we had sound sync issues where the sound was about 1/2 out of sync.

This is my one major concern with the new Apple TV.

When we use our ATV2 or ATV3 hooked up to our 2013 Panasonic Plasma (TH-P50ST60Z), the sound gradually lags behind the video, until after a couple of hours of viewing, the audio is noticeably out of sync. I initially thought this was an issue with the HDMI->Optical out path the sound was taking to our AV receiver. I have all our equipment going via HDMI to the TV, with audio from the TV to the AV Receiver via Optical. But by chance a few weeks ago, I discovered that the AV Receiver can be taken out of the equation, and the problem still persists if audio is played directly through the TVs speakers.

This problem only affects the Apple TV, and Audio from all other sources (PS3, PS4, MySky) are fine. I "solved" it by connecting the ATV directly to the AV Receiver via Optical out. And this is what has me concerned. Because the new ATV doesn't have Optical out, I'll possibly have no redress (apart from upgrading the AV receiver) if this problem remains in the new model. I'm hoping that because it uses an entirely different OS, that it won't be an issue with it, but it still feels like a gamble.

No Siri is greyed out, and even applying the software update has not fixed it.

It maybe that if the ATV4 get Siri enabled by putting it into a different country (e.g. USA) then that may stick when you put the ATV back to NZ.

Its going to be a wet weekend, so I may have time to play, although I need to update my servers to 10.11 which may take up my time.
