Sounds like a pretty bad experience. I ordered my iPhone 7 Plus Black directly from Apple.co.nz when the orders opened. Got it on the 23rd of September.

Is it the Jet Black she ordered? I hear Apple haven't been able to make enough of them (that pass their QA).

Yes it was.

VF have a system on their website that you can put your order number in. This is the message you get....

Ships when stock arrives.
Check our website for shipping updates.
We will periodically update you on shipping status as stock arrives.

Not overly impressive - you would expect a company like VF to have at least some idea when they expect stock...! This whole "pre-order" thing is just bonkers - it creates a massive demand which Apple never seem even vaguely capable of meeting.

IMO Vodafone were particularly useless during the recent Note 7 recall. Their rep posted here on GZ setting out how it was going to work, and I and several others complimented him/them on their generosity etc - but of course it wasn't down to them, it was Samsung.

Their uselessness included no-one on their 0800 number knowing the slightest thing about the recall, stores never ever answering their phones, actually lying on their Community website saying "... we have already texted everyone about how to get their replacement N7" - which kicked off a storm on the website - it was clear that not one person had received any texts at any time from VF about the recall.

If you went into a VF store they still could not tell you anything at all - not even up to one day before the replacements eventually arrived. They could not look you up on any recall-related system, they twice just wrote my name and mobile number down on a scrap of paper and said "we'll call you" - and you just knew damned well they wouldn't - and they didn't.

Of course they muddled through and most - if not all - of their customers now have their fresh N7's - but not without an ugly performance to get there. I had no particular beef with Vodafone prior to this - was with Spark prior to buying the N7 - but I was amazed at VF's overall incompetence. [Rant over]

Huge international company? Massive Samsung customer? You would have thought that "We expect deliveries to resume in late October" or something along those lines ought not to be too far beyond the realms of possibility, even if an exact date is not feasible.

I think its more a place of Huge international company? Tiny Samsung customer?

Voda is big but I think its a small company in NZ by global standards, small market. It isn't the NZ branch of Voda International. I recall when the 4S came out, my first foray into the iPhone, Voda in Moorhouse Ave, ChCh had 30 in the first release day shipment. 30. 30 per NZ store is a very small shipment. Its always been this way.

Before long you will be tripping over them on every street corner

Yeah, sorry, wasn't trying to hijack the thread - was just trying to add depth to comments here about Vodafone NZ's general uselessness.

I've used Jaybird wireless bluetooth headphones for ever, since before my iPhone 4s.

They're excellent and resilient. I originally went thru 5 pairs of Logitech ones that kept on dying for one reason or another. I've had the SB2 Sports Band version and been using them since 2010. They don't have over ears versions any longer unfortunately and have moved to only earbud versions now, which is a shame.

I just bought a set of Jaybird Freedom headphones specifically because they have the smallest earbuds out of any of the bluetooth headphones I looked at. This is very important to me to be able to fit under my motorcycle helmet, I cant use the over the ear versions because the helmet crushes your ear back against your head and having anything between your ear and head is very painful.

I'm not hugely keen on in ear 'phones.

I have some Shure IEMs that are very good sound wise but I just don't find them comfortable over long periods.

OTOH who wants to look like a tool walking around with full size cans on?!

I suppose it is fortunate that I am not of the generation that appears to require music in order to walk to the shops for milk...!
