I've used Jaybird wireless bluetooth headphones for ever, since before my iPhone 4s.

www.jaybirdsport.com/

They're excellent and resilient.  I originally went thru 5 pairs of Logitech ones that kept on dying for one reason or another.  I've had the SB2 Sports Band version and been using them since 2010.  They don't have over ears versions any longer unfortunately and have moved to only earbud versions now, which is a shame.

I just bought a set of Jaybird Freedom headphones specifically because they have the smallest earbuds out of any of the bluetooth headphones I looked at. This is very important to me to be able to fit under my motorcycle helmet, I cant use the over the ear versions because the helmet crushes your ear back against your head and having anything between your ear and head is very painful.

I'd get the earbuds if I wore a helmet too.  But I only walk/run, hardly ski now, and wear earplugs when I sleep so I try and avoid more "things" in my ears during the day.

I'm not hugely keen on in ear 'phones.

I have some Shure IEMs that are very good sound wise but I just don't find them comfortable over long periods.

OTOH who wants to look like a tool walking around with full size cans on?!

I suppose it is fortunate that I am not of the generation that appears to require music in order to walk to the shops for milk...!

Haha. Yeah, the Jaybird SB2 is really slimline and not bulky but it looks like the current trend for over ear is HUGE.  I'm stuck if my SB2 dies cause the alternatives all look bulky.  I hate wires, I always get tangled up with them when I walk and they never last even 6 months.

A few clever accessories on this video, including headphones (wired) that use Lightening.

A warning to others, most of the stuff in that video seems to be cheap chinese clone/knockoff or kickstarter scams.

The easiest example is that magnetic connector maybe by another company called ZNAPS. You can see how well its received by their comments

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1041610927/znaps-the-9-magnetic-adapter-for-your-mobile-devic/comments

Turns out making a reliable connector using miniaturized pogo pins that can carry enough charging current is really hard. Not to mention that magnetized connectors are likely to be patented too.

And yet US$3 ea. ones I bought From Aliexpress (which may be clones/knockoffs) work perfectly well, and have at least 5 other variants available for $3-8 (US) each...

The real question IMHO is

why the hell aren't Apple supplying these direct?

and during my quick research for the previous post I also came across (and ordered) these: http://tinyurl.com/he4y44f which purport to make even Apples own charge and earphone cables completely magnetic connectable ... maybe Apple are saving these ideas for their 10th anniversary addition?

The stereo is from the ear piece and old speaker location, so yes stereo

Shouldn't have dropped the audio jack ...

It should be pointed out though that iPhone 7 was only released for the last 2 weeks of that quarter, by most accounts I have read demand for iPhone 7 has outstripped the last few models at comparable time frames.

I love journalists. They have no idea what they're reporting about. Anyway, last I checked they can't make them fast enough. Every model I clicked on say "ships in 3-4 weeks", some 4-6 weeks.

Speaks more of the supply chain than headphone jack question.

Apple intentionally withheld sales figures for this reason.

They'll ship it in 3-4 weeks but take your money today though ;)

Also, that article seems pretty fairly balanced, they said Apple reported their " third quarter in a row of declining iPhone sales" even though their revenue was higher than expected (due to growth in their service business, iTunes and the App Store)... Which makes perfect sense since fewer people overall are likely to upgrade these days just for an incremental update (or for a device which lacks features their old phone has, like the audio jack), but everyone wants cool new music and apps.

Generally they do not take your money until they ship...

What it says to me is that the revenue dropped because people didn't want to buy the 6S knowing the 7 was about to be launched. Once it's launched you can't buy the 7 because they like to drip feed it to the world for some reason - either artificial or real supply issues. And they don't bill your CC until the item is shipped/being shipped so that to me explains the revenue drop.

But I am no business analyst ...
