Really annoyed. Ordered at 12:09am on Saturday morning when Spark preorders opened (replacement phone for my partner) only to be told that today my order was still on hold as a staff member had not progressed it, and now my order is backordered. There was nothing that Spark could do despite me doing one of the very first orders.

I’m still staying hopeful I won’t be stuck in the “up to 8 week” queue but felt this was rather poor form given it wasn’t my fault the order got stuck. I’m yet to have a shipping notification so my partners excitement of getting her new iPhone tomorrow was totally and utterly crushed.

First time ever having a preorder fail. I do understand mistakes happen, but Spark should have really planned for this sort of thing and had a solution for edge cases like this. My gut was telling me to order from Apple as I normally do and think in future I’ll do that next year when it comes to replacing my phone.

One wonders why a staff member’s input was required in what is assumedly a fully automatic computer controlled ordering system?

I believe its due to them running different systems between shopping cart to fulfilment systems. Any exceptions along there can cause issues. It is pretty poor form however to allow it to be held in an error state for this long.

Anyone’s tracking moved off “Processing Complete at Auckland”?
Appears stuck on that.

[snip] I had an alert in my DHL app earlier today telling me a package was on the way ...

@aperfectcircle

Are you using the DHL Express app? I am trying to see how to set it to notify me when there's a change to the tracking status. I have Notifications turned on for the app in iPhone settings but doesn't seem to do anything.

Also there does not seem to be a way to set tracking change notifications on the Apple Store app either.

Yeah my Wife's iPhone has been at DHL facility since arriving yesterday early morning. It usually makes the trip down to Hamilton depot same day and delivered the next day which is today. I dont see the delivery happening today.

Never mind as well. DHL updated to shipment is out for delivery here as well. Weird as DHL is really good with scan updates as they happen and it seems to have missed a couple with the phone. The apple magsafe clear case went through all the scan updates.

Yep, am using the DHL Express app. It just auto-magically appeared in the app for me. Did you already have a DHL Express account with your address registered? I’ve had a DHL Express account for a couple of years now and shipments to my address have always automatically just shown up in the app.

The Apple Store app won’t give you notifications of any changes to tracking status beyond notifying you when it’s shipped and when it’s been delivered I’ve found.

Thanks. I have now found that I can set tracking notifications on the DHL website. Not sure what's going on with the app and setting Notifications.

Anyway, my phone is still stuck at "03:57 am [Thursday morning] Arrived at DHL Sort Facility Auckland".

Edit 9:07 am - "Out for Delivery". Yay!

I've heard nothing from 2Degree's. I think some of these telco's would be sailing quite close to the wind as far as staying within the law when they advertise products for sale, someone orders within 15 minutes of the order page going live and then it turns out they can't supply said product and it is back ordered. Noel Leeming ran into some issues over this, I can't imagine it should be that difficult to actually know how many units you are going to have available and then advise customers accordingly.

I have heard a rumour that 2degrees had some sort of cock-up in the link between their order-taking and passing those on to their fulfilment outfit - similar to the problem @michaelmurfy had with Spark. Affected all orders taken when pre-orders opened.
