cranz: Vodafone has updated their website with information on which stores will carry the iPhone.

3 Stores for launch at midnight:

Auckland - 171 Queens Street
Wellington - 358 Lambton Quay
Christchurch - 681 Colombo Street
How did you find that?  The link's not on the VF iPhone page.

Hang on, there's two different instances of the iPhone page - one accessed from the link on the homepage and the other found through the search.

You can see the iPhone site on Vodafone, there's now a new link to find the places to buy the iPhone.

Quite interesting that Magnum Mac are listed as selling them - I thought it would be VF branded stores but obviously it's not.

I thought I read somewhere (most likely here) that Reneissance ( Magnum Mac's parent company ) had become a vodafone dealer so they could sell the iphone.

That's interesting as not all First Mobile stores are listed, but a few are.

Just heard some not so good news on the pricing front. Take it with the grain of salt, of course, but apparently prices are going to be into the double 4 (sorry!) digits even for the 8Gb phone, and they are not being subsidized.

Prices are supposed to be defined at this super-secret meeting on Wednesday (hard to believe, IMHO).

And apparently the data plans that Vodafone offers now will not apply to the iPhone. And not everyone will want to sell it as Vodafone is not making any margins on prices for the dealers.

All of this, of course, is not official and has not been checked in any way. Not standing behind this information, just passing along.

The double digits? >$99 you mean? was it ever expected to be less than that?

Well that would mean Vodafone NZ was given an exception from Apple in the US, whom explicitly stated that the iPhone "will not be sold for more than the equivalent of $199 USD worldwide".

I would imagine that Apple Cupertino has more pull than Vodafone New Zealand in this regard - they're the ones with the physical product afterall.

in almost every one of these countries, the price is a maximum of $199...

My bad! Coding and reading forums at the same time makes your brain go wild sometimes.

I meant 4 digits.
