Benallan: I spoke with Spark again today. Seems like some stores have had all their pre orders shipped now for the pro and pro max.

For those that have the pro, what was the deciding factor in not going pro max?

And am I right in thinking this is the first time they have had two pro models where one has a different camera setup on one?

I believe the 13 and 14 both had camera differences from Pro to Pro max.

If I can also share my thoughts on a slightly related note size wise going from 6.1" to 6.7", I thought I would never do it but honestly its about 12mm taller and 6mm wider. I barely notice it

They probably had lower amount of pre-orders considering their offers were the least enticing out of the big three.

2Degrees were very competitive hence had likely the largest backlog of pre-orders. I called them just before and they're still advising up to a 6 week wait. Even the Apple website have delivery estimates by first week of November by the latest.

I’d say it’s because Spark has more buying power than 2d, not because their deals are less enticing - you’re not going to churn to save a hundred bucks over a couple of years.

You might be surprised.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

It's actually about $500 of savings over 12 months.

Depreciation on a iPhone Pro Max is probably just over $500 in the first year so it's a pretty good deal if done right.

As others have said, 2degrees had much better deals as their minimum terms are only 12 months vs. Spark and OneNZ's 24 months to get the same $500 saving.

an extra 2 years on a $60-80 plan when you don't necessarily need to represents significant extra cost

My $400 credit on Spark is over my 12 months IFP term (I still wouldn’t churn for an extra $100 over 12 months).

With Spark and One each respectively having circa 40% of connections leaving 2d with circa 20% - I’d be very surprised if 2d sold more units than either Spark or One, especially with 2D having a lower ARPU than the 2 big guys

Whether you have stock ( and continued refreshing of stock) from Apple is a dark and mysterious art that no one but Apple seems to know...

From what I've been told from Apple stockists, shipments arrive when they arrive and contain what they contain... retailers/networks operators don't have that much visibility into the supply chain info...

Retailer or carriers should at least be able to tell you your place in the queue, being left completely in the dark is not the best customer service...

I agree with this.  Not sure of the logistics of it all though.  When I worked for Telecom back in 2004-2009, we had a centre out in the Penrose/Onehunga area, near Mt Smart, that did all our orders.  We would use good old ICMS and SPOT codes, but the order system allowed us to see the steps and processes that took place.

Gosh, brings back memories where NZ was too small to order units and we had to piggy back on US carrier's orders. Think we had to piggyback on Sprint's CDMA units from manufacturers.

Ah! CDMA! That is a term I haven't heard in a long time :D

On that note, some nostalgia! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXB5AO1RToU

Wandered into a Spark store on Friday and walked out with an iPhone PM, damn you impulse purchase. So far so good, no heating issues etc, so it seems they fixed that issue, or it was just highly publicised isolated incidences (which is probably more likely given the spotlight put in Apple during these launches). The jump from an iPhone 12 Pro isn’t huge, but still nice to have the bigger size.

Still no update at all from 2degrees. It doesn't even show up in my order history funnily enough.
