Lipex666: Took my iPhone 5 in today and Vodafone store didn't know anything about this. As my phones original owner brought from Norman Ross Palmy ( I'm in Ack) and I now have the phone on Voda was advised they the store need to ring Brightpoint as phone not Voda stock. Was even told as a Voda customer may need to take the phone into 2degrees. WTF. Have to wait till Monday to see what's happening. They advised I could be charge for shipping back as not Voda stock. So they are checking with Brightpoint.

Suggest people ring Apple directly to get it underway and get exactly what is required as it looks as if Apple / Vodafone are not on the same page.

You deal with place of purchase as shown on the receipt

Yeah right says with your wireless carrier (a retail shop like Harvey Ross etc are not wireless carriers, will ring apple support / Brightpoint Monday as all Voda need to do is send into the apple support centre on behalf of their customer.

Replacement Process
Bring your iPhone 5 to a participating wireless carrier. Your iPhone will be examined to verify eligibility, before proceeding with the replacement process.

Best to bring it up with Apple then that is not our wording, Apple did the recall / media release

Thanks JR

I think this is the easiest approach if you didn't buy from Vodafone / Telecom / 2Degrees and brought as as a second hand phone like I did or from a store.

I have gone and retrieved my phone and have gone through Apple directly and got a repair number ID and by email a confirmation "Within two business days, you should receive a shipping box at this address"

mrphil: Has anyone started the process? I have a which is eligible and it said to take it into voda/telecom/2degree for it to be check

Do they just run the serial number and give you a replacement phone on the spot? Or they send it to apple and I'm without a phone during that time?

I would be interested as well, I am in the same boat, but can be without my phone for a few days

The wife went into Vodafone today and the person there didn't know anything about it, he then sent out the ninja which said Just contact apple directly

Good work Vodafone

Where was the hardest obtained from?

hardest or handset? lol

it was purchased from dick smith

lol

Then the receipt shows Dick Smith and this is who you deal with around the hardware

Or deal with apple directly

the process is that you send them your phone and they replace the button, takes about 10 working days

I wonder if that turnaround still applies if you have Applecare, or would you be entitled to an express replacement? If I were in that position I would be extremely annoyed to have to be without the device for ten days.

So has anyone who purchased a iphone 5 from vodafone or telecom taken it back to a store for the replacement?  Can they confirm that the phone still needs to be sent away to apple? Or do they offer a swap?

Thanks

My iPhone was purchased from Noel Leeming in December 2012.

Checked on the Apple site and it came back that it was eligible, so logged a call with them.

On Tuesday the return box arrived so shipped it on Wednesday. Took just under 24 hours to make it back to Sydney.

Received notification about an hour ago that a replacement phone was on it way. Yes a replacement. They have quoted my old serial and the serial on the replacement. I am guessing this is a refurbished phone, but still great work Apple.

Great job Apple they offer awesome support I to just got the same email and my refurbished iPhone has a TNT tracking number so should be here early next week.

Why I am so happy, case was very chipped looking, battery was not lasting, screen had a deep scratch in it all thanks to the previous owner so now I will be back to a near new iPhone.

Well my replacement phone arrived this morning and from what I can tell it isn't a refurbished one.

It was in a sealed Apple box and was running iOS 6 so hasn't been used in the last six months or so and given its manufacture date is Sept 2013 I'm guessing it's never been used.

Thanks Apple. One very happy customer.

I just booked mine in, but since I dont have apple care on my iphone there wont be an express replacement :(
I will decide if im going to send it once the box turns up as I dont currently have a problem with the power button and not really too keen on being without a phone for 10 days.

Anyone get their own phone back?

We sent away the phone and just got a email from apple saying there isn't any problems with the button so they just going to send the phone back to us.

What a waste of time being without a phone for the last week
