chiefie:mattwnz: What I find somewhat amazing, is that the ipad 2 and iphone 4s will get the update. That is 3+ years of ios support. Don't think any android manufacturer supports phones for that long. My samsung s3, samsung have apparently stopping providing android updates and mine is only about a year and a half old, and they still sell it.
I'm glad my iPad2 will get a new breathe of life with iOS8 later this year. Though I'm pretty sure the iPad2 may only very limited iOS8 features, I don't imagine AirDrop be available on iPad2 despite it's only a software implementation.
I think it is amazing considering how quickly support for the ipad 1 was dropped. But I guess they were still selling the ipad 2 up until a few months ago. Also the ipod touch 5th gen uses the same chip A4 chip as the ipad 2 and iphone 4s, and they are still selling the ipod touch as the latest generation. People who purhcased the ipad 2 when it was launched have had good value out of it. I still use mine, although I have noticed some bright patches appearing on the screen around the edge.
