The pricing is very steep for all of these upgrades.

sbiddle:

USB-C on the new iPad makes the decision not to put USB-C on the new iPhones even crazier.

imho i think the transition to USB-C easier to start of with iPads and then move to iPhones.

Balm its gone!

Something about their core market (half revenue) being iphone and not rustling their jimmies too much like what happened last time.

Test the waters with your other mobile market first and see how it pans out.

Floppy drive, CD drive, 30-pin connector, headphone jack, they don't give a crap about testing the waters....

Ordered a new 12.9 iPad Pro this morning to replace my gen 2. The smaller form factor was the main benefit and I prefer Face ID over touch ID. Also very happy with the change to usb-c as I have had MacBook pro's for some time with USB-C so already have some adaptors and USB-C monitors. Will be great for plugging into a TV when traveling I suspect.

I think the new air is badly priced as for not much more you get a MacBook Pro. I think the original price point of the earlier Airs made them a good entry level option.

Mac mini is really just a spec update so not sure why we had to wait so long.

I'm going to sell my iPad Pro and get one of the new Macbook Airs now that it has a retina display.

Interesting that they put touchid on the Air but you have to go full touchbar to get touchid on the Pro

I'd happily have standard function keys than the touchbar, it wasn't a pleasant experience using it

Disappointing that the price of the current 10.5 iPad pro went up in NZ.

I was thinking of selling my iPad 6th Gen 128GB with rugged keyboard case and pencil but prices for the 2018 Pros are way too much. The new Pro is more of a want than a need anyway.

iPad Pro 10.5 64GB launched for $1099. Now $1149.
iPad Pro 11 64GB is $1399

I hear a lot of negative feedback about the Touch Bar, but I actually really like it. It reduces my use of the mouse and hence saves time.

FineWine:

Also Apple released OS updates: iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1, tvOS 12.1 and macOS 10.14.1 to the public.

Looks like this has been bricking the most recent watch, and has been pulled.

With such high pricing on the latest iPhones and iPads one of things that Apple is going to have to do is demonstrate a superior level of quality control over their software. They can't afford these sorts of embarrassing failures.

I am guessing it is about running 4k monitors off an ipad, whereas most people wouldn't need to do with with an iphone. But I can see they doing it next year on their pro versions iphones in the future, as as the Xs, as an upsell.

They don't really have any competition in the ipad type tablet area,so they can name their price. There are the microsoft surfaces, but there just isn't the the metro app supportwith windows 10, like there is for ios

Here's a comparison on what the ipad pro changes are

https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-sprinkles-iphone-x-magic-on-ipad-pro-macbook-air-but-challenges-remain/

There was a price jump in both USD and when combined with the falling NZ Dollar a big jump in NZD pricing,

I mean the entry wifi 12 inch 64 has gone from $1300 to $1750 NZD, while a LTE 512 has jumped from $1999 to $2600 NZD :(

As they are keeping some of the old model, I suspect they are also doing an iphone X type of price increase, to account for the newer more expensive techinciies and screen that has gone into it. It is weird how they are using what looks like a supersized iphone 5 type casing. But guessing that is because square edges are easier to hold onto without the thick bezel
