I would also like too see an announcement concerning a new device. No it is not the Apple Car but a full Siri Home Automation Control system with international standard protocols. The basic would contain a full WiFi and BlueTooth system with Backup Time Machine drive. Then Apple could provide all these products as 'Add-Ons'; Radio, security, lighting, blinds, garage doors, front doors, CCTV, aircon etc.

Of course if they adhere to international standards then the likes of Ikea, Phillip's products etc would all work with it and do it the Apple way where it "Just Works".

I'd like to see the rumored iPad Mini in "pro" format in this release cycle.

Not sure they'll do that at the iPhone launch, but would be good to see one released this year. I love the Mini format but its design is long in the tooth now.

I'm now sufficiently confident in iOS 15 that it's on my work phone, but agree holding off until the wrinkles are ironed out always wise!

You basically described homekit. It is a Siri home automation system with industry standard protocols (thread).

Apple aren't going to provide the add-ons, there's no reason to.

Existing products with homekit support do "just work."

Well that just showed up my ignorance 🥵 Thank you. Research also tells me that Ikea works with HomeKit too.

But I would like a new modern Airport Time Capsule. I am still using the 5th gen and it is still working great. It is a pity they scrapped it.

Get a NAS of some kind, there is no data redundancy in Time Capsule. You can setup a Synology to act as a back up target for Time Machine, if thats why you want it.

So the event just wrapped up earlier, thoughts everyone?

Phone side is expected, nothing too exciting for me there maybe except the mini having a better battery. Watch looks neat, but not gonna budge from the 6.

The iPad mini though - been waiting for that to retire the old mini 4. Will pre-order once I figure out if I can survive on 64gb or to splurge for the 256 😂

"iPad mini is meticulously designed to be absolutely beautiful. An all-new enclosure features a new edge-to-edge screen, along with narrow borders and elegant rounded corners."

From Apple's website.

Can anyone tell me how an edge to edge screen has ANY border at all, much less narrow ones?!

Confusing wording on their side. All the videos and reviews I've seen of the mini makes it pretty clear it's a smaller 4th gen Air - except the bezels can't be scaled down since it needs to be comfortable enough to hold and prevent unwanted touches on the screen. Interesting.

Can't wait for mine to arrive, always been a fan of the mini and any compact devices Apple releases.

I watched a YT video from "Max Tech" last night talking about the apple watch 7. All the leakers thought it would have square edges like the new iphones but at the last minute faced with problems manufacturing the new models apple had to abandon it and focus on a slightly upgraded 6.

So much so, "apparently" the 7 has the same chips as the 6 as well as sharing many other similarities. Looks like the apple watch 8 will be the major redesign.

There's nothing whatsoever that makes me want to upgrade from a 6 to a 7.

A new design and possibly some key features I can't think of might have done it...but not a slightly larger screen and some exclusive watchfaces.

When my AW4 updated to the latest Watch OS it advertised new features - i.e. assistive touch which was rather interesting.

Turns out after some reading it is only available on AW6 and newer, and the SE (which I understand is basically an AW4 anyway..)..

Pretty poor on Apple on sending notifications on new features to devices that are not included...

With that said though I still don't see any need to upgrade, the AW3 - AW4 is still biggest jump in my opinion.

This is good news. I have been delaying the replacement of my Macbook Pro in anticipation of this.
