littleheaven: I'd say the 3-4 week delivery estimate will be a conservative one, and the phone will very likely arrive before that. They need to have a bit of a buffer built in, because if the phones are late their call centre will be flooded with complaints, and obviously they want to avoid that. I downloaded Changes Meter for my Mac and Update Scanner add-on for Firefox, and added the iPhone sales page to both of them. Since I'd never tried them before, I thought I'd better have a back-up in case one didn't work.

I was just climbing into bed around 1.00am when Update Scanner went off. I'd set it to play a custom ringtone my husband made of Paul Oakenfold's "Ready Steady Go" since the sentiment seemed appropriate and I was fairly sure it'd wake me up. So of course I rushed to the Mac, checked the page, and all they'd done was add the lightning adapter to the bottom of the page. I browsed away for a few minutes, then Changes Meter's quiet little "ping" alerted me to another change, and sure enough, around 1.10am, the iPhone was for sale. I was in such a flap I had to try 3 times to complete the order, LOL. I'm getting a white 64GB. And I got the 3-4 weeks delivery estimate, so I don't think there was ever a shorter one than that.

Now onto the important business of choosing the perfect case. Otterbox seem to be extremely robust but rather bulky. Anyone have case recommendations? My main concern is scratch protection, with drop protection a close second (although to an extent you can never fully protect from that).

64GB buddies! I'm getting the black one, though.

For my case I'm looking for nice aesthetics more than anything. I really like the look of the SwitchEasy Nude, but the $15 USD flat rate international shipping is really turning me off. I might see if there are any in-store that are nice.

Crap I forgot about the cases. Any recommendations of where I can get those from? Since normal places like Harvey Norman etc will probably not have those in yet...

There was a small selection at Yoobee Wellington when I was in there yesterday. They told me they'd be getting more in the weekend. Also, I think that JB Hi-Fi are getting some in soon, but I'm not sure when.

OwenMeasures: I cant get over this! people in the UK and US had theres a week after ordering! we had to wait 2 weeks on top of that to order, and now 3-4 weeks on top of that! i cant wait until Apple opens, they are going to get an ear full, i will see what i can find out and report back.

It's interesting how many people have no problem spending $1100 on a phone yet baulk at paying $15 shipping for a case?
And it could be worse - shipping could cost more than the product.

I have just been speaking to a senior adviser at Apple, she is going to go away and speak to the warehouse to see what the stock issues are with NZ, and as to why we have ALL been quoted 3-4 weeks when infact if we order within at least a hour we should receive next week. 

The senior adviser confirmed orders went live at 1:30am which would make more sense, clearly the guy i spoke to prior had no idea what he was talking about!!!
