So....

It was a preorder and I took it to my closest vodafone store and they replaced it right then and there.

Well done Vodafone, excellent service, you made my day! :)

OwenMeasures: Everyone,

I have just been speaking to a senior adviser at Apple, she is going to go away and speak to the warehouse to see what the stock issues are with NZ, and as to why we have ALL been quoted 3-4 weeks when infact if we order within at least a hour we should receive next week.

The senior adviser confirmed orders went live at 1:30am which would make more sense, clearly the guy i spoke to prior had no idea what he was talking about!!!

My confirmation order email came in at 01:32am - Here's hoping your info is good.
Lucky the cricket was still going as I didnt think it would be up until 9am after it not going live at midnight.

Should have an Otterbox commuter case arriving in the next day or so having to wait 3-4 weeks sort of is a downer.

Wow that is close, this is good info as Apple have recently told me orders placed in the first 5 mins got a lower lead time!

I placed mine at 1.11 and got a 3-4 week shipping estimate. Hopefully the fact I was in pretty early will mean a slightly shorter wait. In the meantime I will occupy myself with sourcing the cool case I want (that Amazon won't ship to NZ) and buying a new sim card.

  1. Register with YouShop or Prezoom.
  2. Order through our Geekzone Amazon Kindle order page (so we get a little commission) and ship to your US address.

Thanks for tip. I have friends in the States but don't like to bug them for shipping assistance too much.

Got mine at 1.16 so hopefully I also get mine quicker. After being woken up by my alerting script and managing to load the site, I finally got through :D

Little did I know that Express Checkout exists!

Yes, if I'd had my wits about me I'd have logged into my account and set up express checkout before midnight, though I guess it might have timed me out anyway. I tried to order 3 times and the phone didn't go into my cart, only the lightning connector adapter. Once I logged in the phone went into the cart too and I was away laughing. Lost about 5 minutes doing that, sadly.

IsThisOneGood: Any scuff issue as well? ^

I thought I would do the iphone 5 problems search in Google and there seen to be a few out there including "scuffgate"  http://arstechnica.com/apple/2012/09/early-adopters-experiencing-issues-with-apples-latest-iphone-5/ the only pictures were of the black phones, so I had a look for scratches on white phones and found this video.

Quite interesting that most of the scratches buff out with a finger rub?

Interesting. Actually, my iPad does the same. I have a smart cover on it. And when I remove the smart cover it leaves these black marks which appears to be scuffs. But likewise, you can wipe it off.

I would not say they are scratches in this video more of a transfer of the metal the key is made out of to the back of the Iphone, ask them to keep the phone in a pocket with at least 5 keys on a key ring all day and see what the results are.
