I note the delivery time for 64GB models is longer than the rest. Will there be iPhone 64GB units in store?

Teeps: Just to check that the Stores are opening at midnight? Will they be happy to sell to customers on prepay?

They will be selling the iPhone at 12:01am.

Yes they will be selling prepaid and handsets only.

Nice! See, Vodafone, that's how its done!

I wanted to get my wife an iPhone 4 on launch day (It was her birthday present promised back in July), but due to the comical launch last year, that was impossible. Instead we had to order online and wait a few weeks.

Not sure if this has been said here before, but ex colleague of mine who used to work for Apple said that 2 hours or so prior to the launch Apple changed the rules on Vodafone (he wouldnt say what exactly but indicated price) making it impossible for Vodafone to proceed with the launch until it was sorted. I dont know why Vodafone havent publically said this (maybe they did but I never saw it), or maybe they are worried about upsetting the AppleCart.

I have no idea who is ultimately to blame. All I know is that prior to the launch, the Apple press release stated the iPhone 4 would be available outright from various outlets on launch day. Finding out which ones on launch day was an absolute mystery, with nobody willing to confirm whether the would be stocking it. As we all know, this ended up meaning VF had limited stock, and they were only willing to sell them to on-account customers.

This time we know that Telecom will have it available to both on-account and pre-pay customers, and they are even helping to generate buzz by having a midnight launch. If I was so inclined, I know I could queue up outside Telecom in Auckland in an attempt to get one. This was not a viable option for the last launch, as nobody knew what the heck was going on.

What are the odds on 2 Degrees offering the iPhone 4S in the next few days? Reasons why/why not?

Will we see a price war between Vodafone and Telecom in the run up to Christmas or do you think once Vodafone announce their pricing that will be that until the next iPhone release?

I'm seriously considering lining up at Telecom's Auckland store tomorrow night, but I'm hesitant about signing up for a 24 month contract (I'm on 2D at the mo).
Can I upgrade my iPhone next year when the inevitable new model is released while on a 24 month contract?

I think 2d has explicitly said no.

2Degrees have been quoted by journalists saying they have no plans to carry the iPhone.

Without a subsidy doesn't make any difference anyway so you might as well buy one outright. When it comes to it getting a subsidised phone on contract is just basically getting easy payment terms on the hardware anyway and getting locked into 24 months to pay for it. Buy the iPhone outright and use 2degrees and just pay less per month instead and will most likely still cost you way less, and you can upgrade to a new phone and sell your current one anytime you feel like it

You can upgrade to a new phone at any point on a contract - whether you get a handset subsidy or not is another matter (if not you pay full retail - but can sell your old handset to get some money back)

Do anyone know the fees for changing plans midway through a term contract on telecom? Had a hunt on their website but didn't find anything except for the early termination fee schedule.

I'd be inclined to say yes, but fewer 64GB stock compared to the other two models (supply vs. demand).

Similar username to myself.... Anyhow, they have been advising on twitter to give them a call or visit a store.

It'd be nice to know this definitively, but I guess in the absence of any info they're out of stock, a fairly safe assumption.

This have already been asked and answered (although I can't see it) - will iPhone 4Ss sold by Telecom be unlocked? Telecom's prices (at least for the 16GB model) are cheaper than Apple and the delivery dates are better.

Yes, they are unlocked. Phones in NZ haven't been locked for years.
