Good to hear about the SMS service. Will it be integrated with the normal SMSs or appear as separate chats (like some other apps)?

It will appear as normal iPhone messages, but will be an internal service of Viber (it will only be sent between Viber users).

Brilliant, more incentive for them to install Viber  Wink

Now..Ive just got to be carefull....only reason I have an iPhone is because it was a spare at work, if Viber takes off at work, a manager might ask for an iPhone and guess who'll lose out....  Innocent

Hi Viber support person!

Can you possibly tell me (or can anyone tell me) what happens if we register to Viber via SMS and then PORT our phone number to a new Mobile Operator company?

Do we have to register again for Viber and will this cause any problems or complications?

Thanks!

Hi,
As a whole, there should be no problem porting your number to a different company - Viber should not be affected at all.

When is this expected to happen?  If possible, I would appreciate if you reported back to me that in order to make sure that it does really work smoothly even after the move.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mr Viber!

I don't know when I will be installing the App and porting but I will be sure to report if we do do this and the result!

I am waiting for your SMS update before installing!!

Also please when you start offering calls to mobiles and landlines - please do NOT charge evil connection fees!

I will be happy to use your voice services based on your excellent forum support! But connection fees are annoying and evil! :)

Hi everyone,

We would like to deliver a message from our company to all our users:
Recently there have been some complaints about Viber calls that don't get through, or over-consumption of battery.  We have realized that many users choose to completely shut Viber off when they don't call (relying on Push Notifications for receiving calls).

But this solution actually causes the reverse effect - it disrupts incoming calls, and it wastes battery life, trying to activate the Push Notification mechanism each time a call is received.

For those of you with iPhone 3Gs and up (with "Multitasking") - we advise all our users to keep their Viber running in the background, thus saving battery life and hopefully fixing the "Missed Call" bug.

Thanks, and as usual if you have more questions please let me know,
Viber.

In fairness though, we were told that we didn't need to leave it open in the background to receive calls, like you have to with Skype.

Well,
that's true, you don't HAVE to have Viber open in order to receive calls, but as I wrote - it is actually preferable to have it running in the background if you can (that is - if you have the "Multitasking" option in your iPhone).

Strange as I never have viber running in the background and I'll receive viber calls and battery drain is normal.

Well, it is a recommendation we spread out to our users.
you don't have to follow it, but from tests we've conducted, it actually helps your battery & functionality.

If it works for you smoothly as it is, then leave it as is :)

I tried Viber today with my dad and was not impressed with it at all.  It's got potential but kept breaking up the first time and the second time wouldn't even connect.

Please check your internet connection.  usually 3G connection is far worse than WiFi, so we recommend you to check Viber on WiFi to see its real quality.
