I've tried but haven't received the SMS with the activation code yet.

I'm on 2degrees with an original 2degrees number not a ported one and don't usually have problems receiving international SMS but it looks like it's a common problem with Viber but I'll hopefully receive it soon :-)

Looking at their support site it seems it's a common problem and not necessarily a network issue

I received my code in the middle of the night but don't know if it was from the normal registration process or from me sending an SMS with the word Viber in it to +447781481767 as suggested on their support site if it doesn't work from the app. If you haven't tried that already it might be worth a try, still took about 12 hours though!

My colleague is on 2D and she hasn't received hers, after the second send with "0" in the front.

I had tried both with and without the leading 0 with no luck. Get her to try the SMS direct, I think that's what worked for me.

What I want to know is: do we have to have this program running in the background? And is it as much of a drain as skype for iOS currently is?

I had it running all day yesterday and didn't notice any extra battery drainage.
It uses push notifications unlike the skype app.

With iPhone 4

Lol. I was wondering a similar thing but as I have no one to try it out with yet I can't say for certain but my belief if that it doesn't need to be running and you get a push notification of a new call and thus no battery drain.

Sorry, I had put it in an earlier post which is why I didn't repeat it.

Send an SMS to +447781481767 with the word VIBER in it and they'll send an SMS back with an activation code. It's the method they give on their support site for people who haven't received the activation code SMS from within the app.
