Having to type press the home button is a PITA on non touch devices such as their ipod. I really hope apple fix that. Swipe to unlock was far easier, and less wear on the home button. I also had to reduce the default font size of the system, because all the fonts seems a lot larger, so not as much text was being displayed. I get the feeling they are changing things more to suit the larger screened devices, and frustrating older device owners, so they upgrade. Although the  newest ipod touch is not available with the touch ID, and bigger screen, not 3D touch.

There is a setting to "Rest finger to open" instead of pressing, both of which are far quicker to get in than the swipe version?

My iPhone 6Plus after upgrade to iOS10 spontaneously reboots 5-6 times a day, phone can be idle or in WhatsApp or email or Outlook. Difficult to repro

Apple suggest backup, reset, restore

Which doesn't fix it

This is a brand new 6Plus, my 4th replacement since previous ones touch screens stopped working, with this weird grey bar coming down in horizontal lines in top of screen, one time even on a new phone wrapped in plastic unboxed in the Genius Bar where this was happening on the black iOS boot screen.

No I'm not making this up

I know that, but that only works on devices with touch ID. If you don't have touch ID on a device, such as the current ipod, or older ipads and iphone 5 / 5C, then you have to press the home button. Those devices need the slide to unlock back.

I am having a problem with my ipad air 2, where it crashes on a regular basis and displays a black screen with  the spinning loading circle. Then it works again. Looks like quite a few people on the apple forums are having the same problem. It does make me wonder if they have done enough testing on different devices.

Another weird issue, my colleague and I went to Sydney last week to be issued with our new phones (iPhone 6S) with 20 others. The tech team had come from the US to take us through it (and other stuff, not just how to set up a phone!). And 10 of the phones requested existing Apple IDs! They were all sealed, from the US. So there were some red faces. My colleague's one worked fine, but mine had a random email address being requested to sign in with. So I'm waiting for mine to be couriered from the US. Via Australia. The local Apple store couldn't do anything given the purchase order orginated in the US.

I've had that with Outlook as well. It seemed to me that it was being triggered by Outlook notifications or something in that app - I've deleted Outlook and switched my emails to another app and I haven't had a spontaneous reboot since.

Third party email apps?  Giving third parties access to your mail server?

Isn't Apple a third party too?

Read the article I linked.  With the built in mail app your phone accesses your mail server.  With apps (especially the Outlook app), someone else accesses your mail server on your behalf.

Oh well, unless my company tells me not to, I'll continue as this way I can keep my work email separate to my personal emails.

I have multiple email accounts on my iPhone: work's exchange account, gmail, yahoo and iCloud. It's not hard at all to keep them 'separate'. Not sure I understand the need?

One of the issues I've had is that there is no longer a progress bar when sending SMS. As I live in a weak coverage area, the only way to tell whether a message has sent successfully is to keep the Messages app open for several seconds and hope that the red "!" doesn't appear.

I suggested that Apple provide an option to restore the progress bar (noting that it's an issue in weak coverage) and they rejected the enhancement right off the bat. Wonderful.
