Just received order confirmation from vodafone for the iphone 5 + 1 month term.

And my 3GB data special is now gone since they've activated the new contract immediately....

I guess I can cancel my order from Apple online store now....

Wait so they are sending it or just confirmed your order? So does that mean the 14-21 days they stated start from today?

I ordered a black 64GB from Apple's online store 6:30am on the morning of availability. Still showing shipping in 3-4 weeks and delivery between 29th of this month and 2nd of next.

From reading various forums over the last few years I am under the impression that iPhone warranty claims can sometimes be quite a headache when purchased through a reseller. I'm sticking to my Apple Store order in hope that should a warranty situation come about I will be well looked after.

Does anyone have any experience with iPhone warranty claims?

I got told by a ex-manager of a authorized apple reseller(that sell voda contracts) that ordering through apple is better and less hassle then dealing with iPhones distributed by brightpoint.

Yes i had my 4s replaced with a brand new phone under warranty after the Home button failed - bought through Vodafone so i was also able to get a loan phone 4s while the old one was assessed for repair or replacement.

It's fairly pointless hassling the phone CSR's at Apple to speed up your order. All the stock levels are controlled by the planning team in Singapore - and they are forecasting 3-6 months out. Freight space is booked well in advance and the big DC in Sydney that fulfills most online store orders has their workload pre-planned based on the planning teams forecasting. It is all a very organized operation.

Occasionally freight does come in/get cleared early but the DC can only turn around so much stock at a time so generally it just sits in a container until it enters their workflow.

Your best chance is that 500 of the 1000 people with orders ahead of you will have managed to get one through a store and cancel their orders. If so, you win!

I will recommend contact apple directly if you have any problem with your iphone. (doesn't matter if you purchased from apple or a reseller).

Cooper, on what basis do you recommend this - have you had to make a warranty claim?
