Senecio: My wife’s new SE has just arrived. Ordered on Tuesday. Currently setting up.

Feels very snappy compared to my work iPhone 8. Thankfully my 11 is only a couple of weeks away.

Great to hear! I think the SE 2020 is an awesome phone and it will be very popular :)

I’m sure you probably know this, the iPhone 12 is only 4 months away :P

It will be worth it :)

If you like a small phone similar to the 7, apparently there will be a new 5.4” (non Pro). We will see...

I've been through two tempered glass screen protectors on my new SE now - neither will adhere down the sides. It seems that the SE, despite reports that it is identical to the 7/8, has a slightly more curved edge to the screen. Quite frustrating. It looks awful, especially since I got the all-black model. There are threads at the MacRumours forum and on Reddit where multiple people are reporting the same issue - one that includes an email from Spigen admitting that the current protectors might not fit and that they are working on an updated product. I guess my only choice is to wait for an SE-specific screen protector or get a plastic one that will curve with the screen. The phone itself is fantastic but I am really annoyed that it looks so yuck right now.

Dare I ask why you want a screen protector at all?

I’ve had almost every iPhone model over the years and have never even contemplated using a screen protector.

Well I worked out I needed one - but not until after I'd already cracked my screen when out running:)

Agree the haloing with glass screen protectors looks... not great.

I found with my iPhone XR and the previous iPhone 7 I had that the glass seems to be a lot ‘softer’ and scratches a lot easier than it did in the past. I think I read this is the trade off for the glass being more shatter resistant. Since my iPhone 7 I have used a screen protector for that reason alone, but keen to hear what other people think as boy is it ugly.

My XS Max has a nasty scratch on the front which I think happened when I tossed it under the seat of my mother's car to hide it from thieves before going for a swim at the beach. I think there must have been something sharp under there that I couldn't see.

The scratch is only visible in certain light, but I am tempted to get it repaired under Applecare+ as it annoys me when it is visible.

Just to avoid scratches, really. I often chuck my phone into my handbag and there are things in there that could scratch it, like my keys, metal details on my purse, etc. I’m a perfectionist and I think a scratch would drive me nuts.

my new case arrived today and the frosted bumper actually reduces the visual impact of the halo quite a bit, so I can live with it until an SE-specific screen protector comes out. Otherwise I might have to resort to plastic which is much more forgiving with curves.

Yes I know this, but being a corporate device I don't really get a say. My company has just signed a new deal with Vodafone from May 1st including a complete refresh of our ~500 devices so 11's it is. The 11 will still be a decent step up from the 8 I'm using now so I'm happy.

Has anyone else been having issues with this phone seemingly not responding at times and going thru reboot loops? I'm hoping it's just a software bug but I've only had it about 2 weeks now and noticed when I do something like disconnect wifi, the phone software seems to hang, then black screen, then (sometimes I have to force this) a reboot
