My delivery arrived today as expected and, bearing in mind that I have not owned an Apple Watch before, I am seriously impressed with the design. I'm glad that I went with the stainless steel because I wanted a piece of jewellery rather than just a 'gadget' and this thing feels like a modernised version of the high quality mens' watches that people would traditionally buy.

The setup was totally painless, and the basic features seem to be easy to master. One feature I really like is the ability to unlock my Mac instantly using the watch for authentication.

It was good timing because I have been using a cheap TomTom Spark to track my running over the last year, and I have just started having trouble charging it because the terminals have worn off the charging port. Apple's charging cable looks like it will be far more enduring!

Is anyone else having problems with GPS accuracy?

I don't take my iPhone with me when I go running, so I rely on the watch GPS which is the main reason why I waited for the series II. Yesterday when I went running my distance appeared to be overstated by about 1.5km based on my normal pace on that route, and examining the map suggests that it has picked up a number of erratic GPS readings in locations close to, but not actually on, the route that I took. My split times show a couple of 1km intervals measured at under 3:45 whereas I would normally never get any faster than 4:45 per km.

Something isn't right here.

I have been using the milanese loop since I got it, best watch band I have ever had. It sits how I want it, and is really easy to get on and off.

I have had mine for about a month, and really I find it is mainly used now as a fitness watch. It is probably one of the best fitness watches if you are looking for one. Mine came with a nylon strap which is good, but can get damp. But I also purchased a few clone silicon sports bands from ebay traders, and they are also good. $80 for an original sport band IMO is way too much.  The watch is good, but it is pretty limited in terms of what it can do and what you need it to do. Also most of the apps do still need to be connected to the phone to work, otherwise you get the red iphone icon appearing, telling you to connect. I think they should have put a camera in it, as well as an led light, and allow video calling. Also some ability to record audio is missing. Also why the heck can't it play audio, such as podcasts, it has a speak in it, as micky mouse speaks the time. It just feels quite crippled, in terms of  the potential it has. Maybe it will get some software update that will help. The should also give more options with watch faces, maybe with downloadable ones. Nixie tube face would also be good, as I believe the old watch size ipod nano , which inspired the apple watch, had one.

Yeah. Not buying sport bands or nylon bands. $80 is ridiculous.

I've got a spare sports band when Noel Leeming had a 30% off store wide sale, giving me two sports bands, these I tend to wear the most as I find them very comfortable and the colours I got (white and navy) match the steel watch well.
I also got a Nomad leather strap (modern style) from hellonomad.com at a sale, these looks great on the watch and you can get different coloured adapters if you have the black watch, this i use as a dressier band when I go out. I've also got a couple KO leather apple bands from eBay, these look good but with the heavier steel watch I have found that they tend to loosen off.

Also I've picked up along the way when I first got the original watch a couple generics leather straps and some adapters off eBay, these look ok however I tend to spend my time using the sports strap and the nomad leather straps the most.

I just use the sport band because I can rinse it in water after I've been running.

I personally think that there are better options out there for sports due to the Apple Watch's poor GPS performance that I referred to above.

Supposedly the watch is able to connect to a 'trusted' wifi network (i.e. any network that your iPhone has previously connected to) when your iPhone is out of bluetooth range, however I have never got this to work at home. I am going to try it at my parents' place over Christmas to see if it's a hardware fault or whether it's just something on my network.

I haven't had the problem of erratic readings. However when reviewing the workout on the ma[, the line on the map tends to be quite wiggly, although within a few meters of where I actually was.

Have you tried using the nike workout app instead, as I noticed that the line on the workout map is a lot straighter, than on Apples own workout app. I must compare the apps on the same route to see if the distances are the same. I have found however that the GPS can be very erratic when in the bush, but guessing that is because there are trees overhead, so would be expected.
