Hi,
Does anyone know if there is an iPhone/iPad Geekzone Forum app??
I'm finding it a tad sluggish reading from the browser even in mobile mode...

There was some talk about integrating with Tapatalk if the demand was high enough.

Tapatalk rules ok with me. trying to use mobile site is not easy.

We have an API that started last year. Only had two clients out of it (one released to Windows Phone, one developed but not released to Android). No interest in the iOS dev folks, so not really a priority to create a full API and client. Efforts are all on the web site.

All good - but I have recently started using Tapatalk and I'm very happy with its integration. Much better than using the built-in Safari browser.

thanks for the quick reply guys...
I use tapatalk and find it great...
Can understand the allocation of resources needed for an iOS development if it's not supported ....but would have thought it would be widely used...
.... anyway... will struggle with mobile browser

I find the website works well on the iPad, however sometimes it gives me the mobile site instead of the full site

Full site on iPad for me, works well.

Only thing I think is missing is a 'view unread posts' feature.

I find that the forum text runs a bit too wide for the iPad, even when held in landscape mode. That means putting up with very small text, or cutting off the pane on the left that shows posters' names.

I read and do everything in landscape mode, easier to hold and your thumb is right next to the back button.
Text is a little small, but easy to read with the retina display.

You can Change the Font Size of Web Pages in Safari for iOS with Bookmarklets this works well with Geekzone forum posts but not so good with the page heading. This only increases the font a small amount with a single tap, you can alter this by pasting the javascript in an editor (The stock Notes or Mail app will do) and finding this part s-=2; near the end of the script then changing the 2 to 4 or 6 or 8 I made two bookmarks using 6 and 8. 

 

“Mercury Browser Lite” (free) is also very good for this but it is a little slower than Safari and it cannot be set as the default browser.
