I suspect there is a new ipad to be released soon, possibly with the new ios7. Guess it is almost a year since the 3rd gen was released, and the 4th gen was only a minor improvement with the new plug mid cycle. Apple haven't released any new products for ages.

not just the plug it also got an upgraded processor but nothing significant.
