Predictions? I think the ipad mini will have the current 4th gen ipad processor A6, to give people a reason to get a full size one. It will probably be just like the previous one in terms of look, but with the retina display.  The ipad 5 will pretty much be a larger version of the ipad mini in looks.
Same with the fingerprint scanner, it will only be in the full size one, as they didn't include it on the iphone 5C, which is the lower spec iphone, and to keep costs down.

I would like to see new ipod touches, but very unlikely, as they seem to update them every 2 years now. They are now using pretty old tech in them, so I don't see who the market is now for them, especially as we now have the iphone 5c. Costwise, they aren't much less than an ipad mini, which is a more full featured and usable device.

iPad 5 will have a slimmer bezel making it smaller but still the 9.7 screen size, wonder if that will adversely affect battery life if the battery has to be made smaller

Yep, iPad5 will be physically smaller with same sized screen (9.7).

I wonder what (if) the Apple TV gen 4 will bring. (Still amazed that no-one ever jailbroke the ATV3).

I shouldn't do as they should be able to make iot more power efficient. Just hope it doesn't end up thicker, as I believe the ipad3/4 is ticker than the ipad 2 due to the retina display and it needing more power to push the pixels. Hope the ipad mini doesn't end up being much thicker with retina.
We still have the iwatch and proper apple itv  screen to come sometime in the future

I wonder if we'd get this holy grail of a piece of aluminium by Christmas

Edit: and if we do, how many Chinese people's lives had to be sacrificed for our sake

Announcement date is the same as the Surface 2 release

TBH The Surface 2 looks a very good competitor to the full size iPad

I'm really hoping the new iPad mini is reasonable, particularly having retina. I've got a gen 1 Nexus 7 which is OK but I'd really like to replace it with an iPad mini if it had a decent screen. I prefer iOS to android and I don't like the 16 x 9 screen rastio for browsing.

I would consider the ipad mini2 if it came with the current A7 chip and fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader is a big timesaver when unlocking the device.

I think it'll be Mini = A6 + Retina
Full size = A7x + Fingerprint scanner

Both models will have 8MP camera upgrade

Ipad mini - no retina but finger print scanner and A6X chip

Ipad 5 - smaller bezel, finger print reader, A7X chip and thinner

Both - 8mp camera with a flash.

I have no idea if any of this is right but hey why not have a stab in the dark!

Needs to be good, the Surface 2 Pro looks good.  Cost is similar, power and screen is very good, and you could use it as a lappie, or tablet, or a full Windows or just tablety functions such as movies, reading, mobility, etc. It also will be free of some Apple restrictions. Not trolling as I am an iPad 3 user and getting a 5, but I can see the Surface 2 Pro being multi functional for many. I just had a gander as considering changing my Win 7 laptop to either a MBAir or Win8 laptop, maybe S2P

You forgot something about the Surface, they are just not that nice to use!

I had an RT for a week and sold it to get another Ipad4 for the Mrs.

Nothing wrong with the Surface, just not a "fun" device.

Hee, I didnt really forget, I know little of the Surface, but what I read on the S 2 Pro seemed pretty good.

What factor did you find was not fun?  Is that possibly an RT issues over speed?

The way I see it, and feel free to comment, is that it could be a viable Win8 laptop. It could be a viable tablet for reading, browsing, watching content.

As for apps, well that will be lacking.

I guess it saw it as an option for a lappie upgrade, so that caught my interest
