For the past week or so my iPhone, 3GS, will receive emails but will not send any emails either via 3G or a wifi connection. I have not found anything on any of the internet tubes which helped.

  • I have not changed my passwords but that would not seem to be the issue anyway because I  can receive them

  • Before this started I could happily send and receive emails

Any ideas?

  • I have done the MS fix (Turned the phone off and on)

  • Used Airplane Mode

  • Tweaked the settings

I am resigned that I will need to delete the entire account and recreate, which is not a big job, it is just annoying.

I presume you have read through the help threads on google apps, there are thousands of similar issues with googles mobile sync products both on iphone and WM. What is worse is there is a complete lack of sensible feedback from google regarding the issues.

I can send, but I can't delete [the message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash]. Quite frustrating, as I think it could be a great service. Instead, I have a Gmail Exchange account set up which only syncs contacts and calendar. Then I set up a separate IMAP account for the mail under an hourly fetch. So far so good.

Yeah I thought my gmail exchange account was working all good but I was wrong. I went back to the IMAP account. It's working perfectly again.

This is a known fault that's being worked on by Google

Pity they cant sort it sooner, these gmail and google apps have moved well beyond web toys and are being deployed for serious commerce, issues like these will quickly undermine the whole show.

Sadly if you request assistance from them (even as a paying Premier customer) you get glib responses.

What seems worse is that you cannot seem to bring it to the attention of higher levels within Google, everyone is just left like mushrooms with no voice.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Thanks for your help, I have deleted the account and then re-added.

I am still having crappy data and phone service in central Wellington. Lots of failed calls, lost data, connections, failure to download emails.

+1 In fact I wonder if "humans" actually work there at all.
