Might be a long shot, but the controllers on my second-hand Quest 2 headset are going faulty (the left in particular), suffering from major joystick drift.  I've tried recalibrating it, trying to dislodge any dust or dirt that might be interfering with it, but it hasn't made a difference.  I'm not game enough (yet) to try dismantling it.  So I'm looking to see if anyone has a left controller for a Quest 2 they are looking to offload (or, better still, a matching pair).  I didn't pay a huge amount for the headset and it's been great (especially for the price) so I'd hate to just chuck the whole thing because the controllers don't work.  But the cost for new controllers doesn't make sense compared to a new Quest 3 or 3S, so I'm hoping there might be second-hand controllers floating around.  Trademe and FB marketplace don't seem to have much in the way of just controllers...

No bites (and nothing I can find on Trademe).  So now I'm considering whether to splurge on a Quest 3S (would love to get a Quest 3, but can't swing that right now) or try to repair the existing controllers.  The parts aren't that expensive, but looking at the iFixit page the steps involved in replacing the joystick parts is probably far beyond my skills.  My preference would be to repair these controllers (so I can defer an upgrade for a little while longer, and maybe extend my budget to get a Quest 3 in due course).  Does anyone know where I could get someone to do this repair for me?  Even if it's a case of couriering the controllers to a repairer, that might be worth considering.  But if the cost to get someone to do the repair is too expensive, then it may just be better to get the Quest 3S.

Did you ever have any luck - my son has a completely broken control stick on one controller - wondering if you came up with a good solution?

I did - I ended up buying the Quest 3 ;)

But seriously, no I didn't come up with a solution.  Though now I have the Quest 3 I'm looking to buy the replacement joystick kits off Aliexpress for about $20 and have a go at repairing the old controllers.  If I can get it to work - bonus, the Quest 2 can keep on trucking on for my kids.  If not, I'm only out $20 and still have the Quest 3.

What I found astonishing is the number of people on Trademe who still have a hugely inflated sense of the Quest 2's value.  Lots of traders asking $300+ for their Quest 2 headset.  I got mine second-hand here on GZ for $150 a year ago, and that was a good deal.  With the Quest 3S now over a year old, I'm amazed people are still asking over 50% of the brand-new Quest 3S cost for much older and less capable second-hand hardware.
