Raspberry Pi can do that with the appropriate sensor hooked up to the GPIO pins and a script to send emails.

Would this be of use? Has a built in thermometer, with SMS, Twitter and Email alerts.
http://supermechanical.com I have one, it's pretty good, and easier than a Raspberry Pi, a bit pricier though.
