I'm keen on purchasing a Nest Hub Max (the one with the 10" screen), as the 7" screen on the Home Hub we've got in the kitchen is a way too small for seeing video from my seat at the breakfast bar!

Unsurprisingly, NL's has categorised this as a non-essential product so don't have it for sale at the moment, so happy to look s/h.  Does anyone have one of these they're willing to sell? (I'd also be happy to swap with additional cash if anyone wants to down-size to a Home Hub.) Please PM me if you do. Thanks!

I had the 7 and brought the 10 and tbh have not been happy with it. The wifi is just plain crap. Having Nest Hub is nice (ie webcam) but yeah just be aware there are some big threads out there that it is worse than the 7. You could almost twist my arm on it but Im giving the 7 to my Mum.

@Quinny: thanks for the heads-up on the wifi problem; not something I'd seen mentioned in reviews, which do often miss these sorts of wider issues that don't always rear their heads with the review sample!

I see from this thread that it looks like the problem's not yet resolved https://support.google.com/googlenest/thread/1408816?hl=en

Is this wifi disconnection problem what you've experienced? How frequently does it occur? Is it enough of an issue for you that you'd recommend avoiding the Max until the problem's resolved?

I'm very keen on getting one (when they're available/I find someone willing to sell theirs), but equally don't want to risk buying a paperweight. The wifi on our 7" Home Hub and the various Minis we've got is stable as, so would hate to be buying into a significant problem - especially as this is likely to result in very poor WAF and CAF (given the rest of the family do really like using the Hub).

Yeah. I can only play twitch if drop it down to about 480. If stream YouTube it will just randomly stop as will an audio stream from say tune in. I have mostly blamed that I run the wifi for it from access point but never had any issues at all with the 7 in same spot.

I decided to take a punt in hoping we don’t have WiFi issues, and ordered a Hub Max yesterday.

Noel Leeming’s wouldn’t offer a single cent off the product via my work discount (common for their parallel imported products I find), but then I saw The Market are offering a $50 discount if purchased using Zip.

Seems bizarre I’ve got what amounts to a 12.5% discount by taking up this interest-free pay-over-time option compared to paying for it all up front, but I’m happy to take it!

Thanks for the tip as discounts are hard to find at the moment.

The Market has a referral program so can @jonathan18 post his referral code so he and everyone else can get some free money.

@landcruiserguy - sure, my Market referral link is https://themarket.com/nz/referral?rkey=32781a44662c8a2d3f913c5acbd8d285

A couple of things, though; Zip 'discount' is price-dependent; it's $50 if spending over $350, and $25 between $99 and $350. https://themarket.com/nz/precincts/zip-promotion/70380

Also, I don't believe you can use the $20 referral coupon in tandem with the Zip deal; it looks like they only allow one code per order, but I'd like to be shown to be wrong on this.

You can also join their membership programme for free - this provides free shipping, so even for one package it's worth it. When I joined I think I got a month's membership, but I'm pretty sure it's currently three months.

You are correct in that you can only use one code, the order has to be over $99 and the $25 zip discount > $20 referral discount.  The free shipping is a good deal assuming you remember to cancel after the free trial.

It's still worth doing the referral though as you get the $20 and I have the code for next time.  Signing up now.

Bizarrely you don't have to use zip to claim the zip discount code.

I did notice the discount was still attached even when credit card payment in full was selected; I assumed it would error out in the end so didn’t try it out. Did it let you right though the payment process with the discount?

It seemed to work. If they remove the discount i will be moaning to them. I also deleted my cc of the account which hopefully means that they can't renew the market club membership if i forget to cancel.

I have had this max for some months now (bought in Australia). Never had a WiFi issue so far? maybe a particular batch of products?

Yeah, I’d seen the cheap Hub Max listings on eBay, but like the one you linked to I couldn’t see a single one that shipped to NZ.

Good Guys link errors - looks like they’ve sold out?

I gave up looking at Aus sites for a Max, as even if a retailer is willing to send postage is normally not cheap, then there’s the lack of CGA coverage...

That said, I think the $350 I paid for the Max here is certainly on the high side! Over twice what I paid for the standard Hub, but the money I’ll get from selling that will help offset that.

Amazing price for sure, but a bit of a hassle to get to NZ surely?
