I'm embarking on my first Raspberry Pi project and went to buy one to discover that none of the local suppliers nor many off shore outfits have any in stock. Some places are showing supply dates into next year. Any that I have seen have asking prices north of $300.

I'm after a 3 if anyone has one spare they wish to part with for a normal price.

Thanks

What are you wanting to do? I've got some single board computers here that may be a fit depending on what your project is.

I want it for a Paradox album interface

I'm planning on running PAI, MQTT interface, and Home Assistant on the Pi using  a TTL to USB connector to interface with the alarm.

Core Electronics AU have a Pi 1GB and 4GB in stock (As of 20-April-2022).

With DHL shipping, it comes within a week to NZ. You do not pay AU GST on them.

I've ordered from them before.

Without DHL shipping it maybe cheaper than PB tech (it was at the time I purchased a 4GB in December 2021).

I used Core Electronics recently to get a Pi4. Good service, good price. If you get a Pi4 make sure you get the correct HDMI adapter, I managed to get mini instead of micro - doesn't really matter as I'm using it as a server.

Core Electronics in Au linked above does, and delivery was about a week for me.

I had cash to blow for a weekend, so purchasing online was an issue ;)

But will look at them if I decide I need a Pi4 in next few weeks :)

The only place I know of that you could get a pi with cash would be Jaycar, at Jaycar prices. And they are out of them and the guy said they had a list of people waiting when I was there buying a pi arcade control which inexplicably was cheaper than getting one off aliexpress

I noticed last night that some Jaycar outlets were showing stock at prices somewhat above the usual price.

Yeah, I was in Jaycar the other day.

Which arcade control did you get ? I was looking at the dual controls one which you pop your Pi into - but felt very flimsy and cheap to me, so didn't bother, bought a new soldering iron etc instead to make my own and finish the arcade machine in pieces in my garage :D

https://www.jaycar.co.nz/raspberry-pi-retro-arcade-game-console-with-hdmi-port/p/XC9062

Its metal, quite well made. Came with 2 spare of the cheap buttons but they appear to be a standard hole size. Came with adapters to make a pi4 connect too, and it has a 12v brick and a DC to DC converter inside it so no hassles with voltage drop and the hopeless pi power supply browning out.

Was going to be way more than that to get what I think is the same thing sent from china with the shipping at the moment and I woried about it getting broken since the stock packaging isnt that substantial and they love to just wrap things in yellow packing tape and call it done.

Uses the GPIO for the buttons rather than an encoder so all the USB ports are still available and the face panel can be turned around to take a pi 3 or 4 so I have put an old pi 3 into it for now. Only negative I can see immediately is the lack of a passthru cable for the 3.5mm out.
