At the beginnig of August I moved my naked DSL from Slingshot to another provider. All went well until at the end of August Slingshot direct debited my credit card for another month of DSL and iTalk. I phoned them, told them I had moved and their website said if moving DSL do nothing as the new provider would arrange the cutoff. I stressed I did not want italk cut off but still wanted it.

5 or so days later iTalk is cutoff. I had also ported my number of 20 years to them and don't want to lose it. Despite several calls I am still without iTalk. They say they cannot tell me how long it will take to reconnect but probably 5 business days.

That stinks. It was their error and 2 weeks on still nothing and they refuse to tell me anything, just say to wait. They also refuse to transfer me to a supervisor.

If you are remotely considering Slingshot DON'T. They are just a bunch of muppets, polite muppets but muppets all the same!

Haakutiri, I pm'd you details. Still heard nothing, except for an invoice for iTalk but still no phone. Surely invoicing me is taking the p*ss.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a case of paying for what you get, or not get as the case maybe.

Are they a memeber of the telecommunications disputes tribunal? I personally only deal with ISPs that are members, in case of something like this.

tkr001, I've helped you as far as I can and as I said, the service appears to be in working order. So if it's not working from your end you *need* to speak to the Technical Support team to go through troubleshooting.

CallPlus pulled out of the TDR a long time ago.

Thank you for trying Haakutiri. I have indeed spoken to the technical support team several times since your last PM. They made me change my working ATA for another (lucky I have 2) and call back. They then decided to try and connect to my line on their test equipment. Surprise, surprise they couldn't. I would have thought provisioning would check when they set it up but it appears not. This is why the tech thinks the number I ported to Slingshot may have been released back to Telecom when I was cut off.

Just to give an update. Despite several more calls to them I still have no iTalk and they cannot tell me why. They have escalated it to their "network team".

Why don't you just change VoIP providers? It'd be a lot simpler.

Steve, I would like a shot but I have a ported number I have used for 20 years and don't want to lose it. Can the number be ported to another provider such as Xnet if it isn't working?

As long as it's still allocated to a particular provider (iTalk) it should be portable.  Have a chat to Xnet (or a Xnet dealer), they'll be able to help you out.
