I occasionally need to add a data pack to my 2degrees account but i NEVER EVER want these to auto renew. It looks like they have just changes almost all pay monthly value packs to auto renew.

Anyone know of a way to disable this?

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

You just have to text Stop xxxx and it will cancel it and thus the auto renew too

By xxxx I mean the particular pack that you signed up to

Does typing STOP XXXXX only stop the autorenew or would it actually cancel the plan and hence any data I have will be lost as well?

It cancels the plan but doesn't mean you lose any data/texts etc, it simply means it won't auto renew

I don't want to do this every time I add a value pack. I want to be able to globally opt out of auto renew.

That was one thing i loved about 2degrees it allowed fluctuations in your use. I don't need to top up data every month maybe only when i go on a trip and i am away from my wireless. It creates a hassle.

Its really annoying when you run out your 1 gig $20 pack and want to put a $50 3 gig on, and have to screw around removing the $20 pack first before you top up or it will renew that and waste $20.

This is great news.

One of the concerns that I have is the inconsistency with the way data pack renewals behave. Originally they all had to be manually renewed, then it switched to auto-renewal but only for prepaid customers, and now it seems that the auto-renewal applies to on-account customers but only for certain types of data pack. I know that you can't please everyone, but providing users with some control would hopefully help to mitigate some of the confusion that they must be starting to experience.
