pulsta: From the Herald today:

Slingshot makes late entry to ultra-fast broadband market but aims to have cheapest rate.

Internet provider Slingshot will undercut rivals on price when it offers customers ultra-fast broadband in the next fortnight as competition in the fibre market heats up. Slingshot, which has about 10 per cent of the household broadband market, will introduce fibre-based internet services on December 5.

Unfortunately there is no fibre down my street yet. Awaiting enable networks to deploy.

Kingy: That article is stupid. All the prices quoted are from Slingshots ADSL plans and Telecoms Fibre plans. It doesn't compute.

Are you these are Slingshot ADSL plans? Slingshot have certainly confirmed that their based UFB plan will be $69 which is what the NZ Herald states.

No i'm not sure, and I wasn't aware slingshot had announced anything to do with fibre plans. According to this thread the last SS employee said that they are currently finalizing the plans (thus why we don't have either VDSL/fibre yet).

What I was going off was what was currently on their website. As the current ADSL plan being thrown around is $69 (likewise the $99 unlimited) I just assumed the herald was basing prices off of that.

Don't assume I suppose.

Their facebook page doesn't agree with that statement.

"Check out the feature article in today’s NZ Herald below. (Stay tuned as we announce VDSL and Fibre plans online tomorrow!)"

Hey Guys, sorry I've been so quiet. Trying to avoid putting my foot in it and giving the wrong info again. You've all been really good considering the conflicting dates we've given in the past and I'm really sorry 'bout that.

This is another "as far as I know" but the plan is to release VDSL and Fibre at the same time. If we've told the press the 5th then it's a bit late to go back on that now. I'm waiting for our chaps to update our website before putting anything up on Facebook (which should be sometime this morning) but I thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

Cheers,
Chris

That's what I was told. No idea what's taking so long. Got no more info till someone in a higher tax bracket says otherwise I'm afraid :/
