Cheers,
Chris

hamish225: i asked on facebook too but just in case that goes unanswered, how much is the modem and what model is it? also is the chorus tech visit free?

I'd like to know too: I'd be very interested if I could switch to the Unlimited VDSL plan as a drop-in replacement for my current NDSL plan, but I don't want to be paying hundreds of dollars for a modem and/or be required to sign for a contract term. If I'd need to do that, I may as well go for a cheaper plan with Snap.

Hey guys, no word yet on Naked plans. Hamish, from what I've been told install is free for both fibre and VDSL but don't quote me on that (I'll double check for you tomorrow). I'll check up the modem specs/pricing too.

Cheers,
Chris

Any idea of VDSL coverage in Wellington if Fibre isn't due to run out for at least a couple of years? Would love to get VDSL connected, but looking at the Chorus coverage map, we're right on the edge of VDSL availability

VDSL AYCE for $119.

Will order. Nice SS.

Looks like they decided to go along with their original statement of $10 increase, instead of $15 or more for unlimited.

EDIT:
-Only downside is must wait until December 5th to order.  :(

And naked is where? Can I change from naked unlimited adsl to vdsl with a non-required phone and then change to naked vdsl when it is available or would I incurr another contract changing to it with a phone?

For the uninitiated, can someone explain why 30Mbps Fibre and ADSL are the same price, yet VDSL costs $15/month more?

I thought that the wholesale price of VDSL had been dropped to that of ADSL.

Won't be getting Fibre at my place for three years.

Because its cheaper for them to provide the land line on fiber vs adsl perhaps?

Hey folks, what an educational day it's been. Let's see what we've got...

richms: And naked is where? Can I change from naked unlimited adsl to vdsl with a non-required phone and then change to naked vdsl when it is available or would I incurr another contract changing to it with a phone?

No word on Naked plans. However you can change to VDSL/Fibre without penalty although you will be put on a new 12 month contract.

There are some extra charges we've gotta fork out for VDSL. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure how we've got the 30Mb/s prices so low but I like them there :)

NZCrusader: Any word on modem / router info yet Chris?   :)

They've been custom made for us apparently so I don't have any model numbers or anything like that. $20 plus postage ($15).

You remember who you spoke with so I can give them a slap? It's not built in our sign up process (just went and confirmed with the sales manager) so they're telling porky pies. $15 is right for delivery though.

Did I miss anything?

Chris

Thanks Chris.

Would you mind explaining what those extra charges are, given that the base price is the same?

I was hoping to get VDSL as an interim step until fibre eventually reaches me, but at that premium I won't be.  I find it a bit strange that it costs more than the equivalent fibre.

Is this a typo, or are you serious that the VDSL modems are twenty bucks?

I'll be calling on the 5th to sign up.
