I've noticed that pings generally get through OK but HTTP requests seem to stall most of the time.

I'm moving to a new flat in a few weeks time. If (a) these issues continues and (b) no acknowledgements from Orcon continues I'll be going back to Telecom for the ADSL connection to my new flat. I've lived at two flats in two different areas with Orcon (and on both Orcon+ and Telecom wholesale) and both connections has been awful.

I can actually tell the difference between a Telecom and Orcon connection just by looking at a few random YouTube videos. No (or very little) buffering = Telecom. Buffering = Orcon et al. Sad sate of affairs.

Speed seemed to pick up around midnight. Perhaps it's just because of people going off to bed? :P

glad its fixed now but still not enough to stop me leaving. Is it going to take them 4 - 5 weeks to fix a problem the next time it happens?

Agreed. Have just moved to a new place. One of the few things flatmates agree on in regards to choosing an ISP: not orcon...

Hilarity ensues when I get an email from Orcon regarding their new mobile service. I can imagine having all three with them, internet landline and mobile - you'd be on a desert island of communication.

Given that I've seen the same issues on a few different Orcon connections on different exchanges (with a mixture of both LLU and Telecom Wholesale) as well as different computers (including Mac, Linux, et al) I'm inclined to assume it's a fault on Orcon's network.

Also the recent network status update includes a comment regarding an upgrade to their international capacity so even Orcon was aware of the issue -- even if they kept their customers in the dark until they had confirmed plans to upgrade their international capacity.

Flatmates going with Orcon after all simply due to their prices and no term contracts. Fun.
