2degreesCare:

Hey everyone,

DarkShadow has it right, existing 200/200Mbps customers will be automatically upgraded to 1Gbps/500mbps over the coming weeks, we are currently working with our wholesalers to plan this work out. Existing customers on other fibre speeds can request the change through Your 2degrees. Given the number of orders flying through the different wholesaler's at present, there may be a bit of a wait compared to normal lead times.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

So will we get a text notification to let us know it's been done or do we reset our modem every few days to check? Cheers

One thing that I find a bit on the nose, is if you get any of the speed boost's and decide it's not worth it, they charge you a $50 fee to drop back to your original speed. It's whats stopping me trying out the $24.95 100 to 200 speed boost. It works out to be a 2 month penalty fee just to drop back.

Be thankful that you have an option to do this. Some of us who are stuck on ADSL2 for the foreseeable future would only be too glad to accept that charge in order to try it out.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

We were sent an email that said

"We have launched a new Gigabit Speed Boost to cater for New Zealand’s ever increasing need for high speed data.  The Gigabit Speed Boost will offer customers up to 1Gbps download and up to 500Mbps upload and is available nationwide.

The great news is that because you are on our 200/200 speed boost we are going to move you to the new Gigabit Speed Boost at no extra cost.  You don’t need to do anything as we’ve got this work underway already, which we expect to be completed by October 15th.

If you’ve got any questions please feel free to contact our Customer Care team on 0800 022 022."

So less than 10 days for everyone to be cut over I guess. Be still my beating heart - although most of my stuff is trans-tasman on international and India, Europe etc still have some real lag in traffic.

I have 240TGB of data to drag off a server to my local drive - will be a good test. My server is in Auckland backed by 600 - 800 plus Mbps./ I'll post results.

This is correct, the fibre wholesaler's charge a fee to change a service in this way, we absorb the cost to upgrade so you can upgrade for free, however if you wish to downgrade there is a $50 fee to do so. In the majority of cases, people don' want to downgrade after they've experienced the faster speed boost :)

Thanks

Sounds like the profile at our end hasn't quite changed over just yet, PM me your account number and I'll take a look.

Check your PPP username. If it is simply "username" instead of username@snap.net.nz speed profile changes don't apply properly. I found this out the hard way when I moved from 100/50 to 200/200 I ended up with 100/200
