I have been experiencing the same issue for about the last week.
But it also at other random times not just peak times but mostly peak time.
Watching Twitch tv is painful.

Speedtest to New York is 2.5 - 3 Mbps but even 480p pauses some of the time, sometimes constantly. 720p forget it.

It seems like its always something.
Ping issues.
Streaming issues.
Uploading more then 30-50 KBps causes my ping to sky rocket (wtf why??)

My username is lukeprestige.
It should be lukeprestidge but that got stuffed up too

The move was great, signed up on Monday they connected it today. Was having problems with pretty much everything... for example League of Legends, when ever I opened it the chat service would refuse to connect so couldn't match up with friends. Disconnected slingshot, put in Snap details today and instantly connected to the chat service. Another example couldn't watch basically any adobe flash based video site apart from YouTube, now on snap I can watch any thing and even stream 1080p.

When signing up to Snap I forgot to setup a static IP, called up their help desk and they assigned me one instantly, reconnected modem and had my new static address. ..

I am over the moon I actually have useable internet now, and when I call the service desk I actually get people that don't piss around and sort it.

Slingshot: Hi guys,

We are performing a significant augment on the morning of 9th, and between now and then we are optimising the capacity we have.

Thanks for your patience and I will update further when I have more information. Hopefully everything is back to normal after that.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,   so the work was carried out this morning on the 9th,   there doesn't seem to be any change,  downloading  a 7 gig file via SSL atm, and its streaming in at 120 KBs,    same time last week and for the last 9 month sits been around 750 KBs,  so what's changed,  apart from me eyeing up a switch to Snap ?

The file has an ETA of 18 hours to complete !   Mate this is poor.

Hi guys,

I am on Unlimited too, and agree that the speeds over the past few days are not of the standard that customers have come to expect.  Typically our customers consume 50% more data than they did the previous year, so adding customer growth on top of that there is an exponential challenge to keeping up with demand.  We scale our bandwidth in line with this, however sometimes logistical challenges can cause delay.

We have successfully completed a large augment to our trans-tasman capacity over which we peer with Google among other providers.

We experienced an upstream packet loss issue last night which meant that we diverted resources to addressing that.  We now aim to complete last nights scheduled augments to our International IP Transit today.

Other than these two areas we also have some improvements to make to caching for our Unlimited customers.  We are working through these as quickly as possible, however the cache augments may need to occur early next week.  This may be the most noticeable augment if you consume a lot of cached content.

Thanks for your patience - this is our top priority.

Thought I would link this here to add to the conversation
http://forums.slingshot.co.nz/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5130

Still not convinced its completely related due to being able to connect succesfully on all other Slingshot Unlimited connections on the 101.98.* range i've tried, but 100% failure on the 4 x 119.224.* connections. Also the difference in symptoms (such as i never have latency issues). Guess will find out when these augments are complete though :)

Hi Jarsky,

You are right that each of those IP ranges experience a different service quality at present.  We operate over multiple routes, and typically balance the two to have equivalent service.  It gives us additional options if one of our upstreams has a problem (like at present).  We have added a large chunk of bandwidth to one of them today (the slower one) to bring it back into alignment.

However we are not happy with the packet loss on a seperate trans-tasman circuit, so are operating at reduced capacity until this fault is resolved by our upstream supplier.  This might impact Google tonight until they have fixed it.  There are engineers on site working on this right now.

LOL,

I quite often visit theCHIVE and it has been so bad lately (counting in weeks now)
that now images would load on the page, they just time out and display 'broken image' icon
I've got Vodafone at my other place and theCHIVE runs fine over there

Could any try theCHIVE and see if they can get smooth performance

All augment thing reminds me of the Chrome App - it's called Do It (Tomorrow) The todo App for procrastinators ;)

I'm on slingshot unlimited ( not naked )and that site loaded fine @ 7.17pm using opera as browser.

Edit: Just checked international speed and sure enough it's appalling. I am surprised the site loaded fairly quick and everything displayed fine.
