PaulBrislen: have you all changed the rules again?

dan: As a current orcon customer, im really not impressed they have removed all the old customiseable broadband plans, and the pricing, unflexability of their new plans is leaves alot to be desired.
Overall i think its a step back for those not in the LLU areas.
duncanblair:
You can still build your own plan using the 'Purple' plan option. From the base plan (which now comes with 500MB of data instead of the old plans 200MB) you can add data bundles (cheaper than the old ones) and upgrade the speed to Max/Max. We have also made the overage more flexible - it was previously $10 per 5GB, it is now $2 per GB.

I thought it was $1/GB, but anyways, Where is the Ponsonby Exchange located, we are @ serviced offices at 300 Richmond Road, just opposite the woolworths, we get 10MBit/s sync rate at the moment with XNET, but wondering if this would change with Orcon.
Also, your cheaper plans mention a VOIP option, but I can't find it on your website.

unicorn:
How do I find out which exchange I am connected to?
I can enter my number in the Orcon LLU and see that I am not in the LLU area.
I can see that there is a schedule for upgrading exchanges.
But how do I find out which exchange I am on Orcon? - and therefore when I will be able to use the service???
Are there any plans to offer ADSL2plus Annex M? This allows for up to 3.5Mbps upstream, and from what I can tell, isn't a problem under TNZ spectrum management.
I'm surprised neither Orcon or Vodafone have jumped on it...
PenultimateHop:
Assuming you still have Telecom voice services, call Telecom and ask. Alternatively your ISP should be able to tell you.
freitasm: About these plan prices...
If User A signs up for $119.95/month for 25 GB of data and User A goes over the allowance, is it possible to purchase the additional data blocks at cheaper prices, or are these only available at the time of sign up?
I am asking because for some people it would be very difficult to get a perfect (or approximate) forecast to decide what number or size of data blocs are required.
Also, I see number portability is not supported?
If User B is moving to an area in Auckland where the service is available, I understand after reading the FAQ that it wouldn't be possible to port the number to Orcon? Is that right?

We are testing Annex M, and we are looking at making it avalilable later this year.

duncanblair: Number portability is definitely supported. If you are moving your service from another provider to Orcon (at the same physical premisis) then we wiill port your number over at no charge. Similarly, if you are moving within the same local calling area we will port your number for no charge. The part that gets tricky is for people that are moving betweeen local calling areas. E.g. you move from Rotorua to Auckland - you can't keep your number in that instance. Sorry, we had a bit of trouble with wording that particular FAQ to try to make this clear.

The Gold and Platinum bundles both offer awesome calling value on top of the broadband with unlimited national (on Gold and Plantinum) and international (on Platinum) calls.
