I'm told the old router should work ok, but after several phone calls and equipment resets I'm now told that a fault has to be raised with Chorus, and will be investigated within 24-72 hours. So this is very frustrating, no internet or phone line for an undefined period due to a failed upgrade. Further frustrating that slingshot won't accept the fault is due to the failed upgrade and refuse to pay for the provision of alternate connectivity in the meantime.
I went through a very similar process when my fibre was first connected, turned out to be a provisioning error but that seemed to be the last thing checked

I just checked Skinny's price for gig unlimited. You should too.

 

(And no, it doesn't mean the break fee is waived - I am just pointing out that our value brand is damn sharp on pricing)

I just had a quick look - $98 for Gig Fibre, that is pretty good!

 

$129 on Bigpipe also...

That's a sharp price indeed - I'm hoping the Bigpipe plans follow suit shortly. I would bite, but that static IP is incredibly handy, remoting in when I'm an idiot and forget something, having a mumble server, etc. are well worth while.

I know this is heading off topic but the only drawback I see with Skinny is no pubic IP option, CG-NAT only

Just closing off my experience with this.

 

After a frustrating runaround on Monday, my connection was restored late Monday night.  I asked Slingshot what the problem had been and why it occurred, but all I got back was a rather cryptic "Your ONT was locked" - which was strange given that the ONT was power-cycled three times during the fault finding process.

 

I think there is something wrong with Slingshot's provisioning system: I have had a change of service twice with SS and it has been messed up both times.  Would be interested if @slingshot could confirm what the problem was with this service change and whether the system can be made to work better.

 

Kudos to Slinshot's CSRs who handle impatient customers very well

Current Voda(100/20) contract is about to expire.

 

Are current SlingShot Gig users happy with their service?, esp with international video streaming. I watch IPTV 24/7 (500-600gb per month) and quite happy with Voda but at the current SS Gig price I might change but am worried about SS blocking/ excessive buffering.

When I last looked, if you have your mobile with Voda, their gig fibre plan is $99 per month so could be worthwhile investigating. Most players now moving to sub $100 for their gig plans, Slingshot, Vodafone, Skinny (Skinny $98 for gig fibre).

I take it that Slingshot want to lock you into a 12 month term? I have a fast router / modem and don't need a new one if I get a faster connection. Has anyone persuaded them to not impose the 12 month term?

The supplied router is configured for IPoE but the info on slingshots website points to them using PPPoE

Hi there,

 

 

 

Our modems are preconfigured so that they don't need any customer intervention to get online. There are multiple access methods and the modem is designed to ensure that every access method will work. If you are on fibre then it is likely you will connect with IPoE, however, pppoE fallback is also possible. If you are wanting to use a  non slingshot supplied router and you are having issues then just double check the wan interface is using VLAN10. Let me know if you have any further questions!

We are one of the better peered ISP's. We openly peer.

 

 

 

Also no CGNAT on Slingshot
