This'll be the first time in almost 10 years where 2degrees have updated their plans and it feels like a step backwards.

Sure for some it'll work out better but carryover and data sharing (at no extra cost) was so compelling there must be a good % of people who will feel the same way. If they had these new plans and kept the original ones too they'd be covering pretty much everyone's uses cases I reckon with no reason to look elsewhere. If this isn't purely about revenue then I really hope they take on the feedback being received.

Another option to satisfy both customers is to keep both plans available. So you have the normal carryover data plans and then have the new endless data plans as well.

I'm now worried that 2Degrees will apply the same change to the prepay plans, and make more of the prepay plans endless/unlimited. (currently only the $85 plan is endless)

Almost a year ago Skinny replaced most of their plans with endless data, and lost the rollover data, hence why I switched to 2Degrees.
Hope 2Degress don't follow suit!

Use case: I'll buy a higher prepay plan ($70) bank the 25GB rollover data, then switch back to $19 plan for a few months, and adjust usage as necessary. Good to bank the carryover data for when I actually need it during the year, and just buy the $70 plan a few times a year.

Like others, I much prefer max speed data (buying data and using it when I want), and couldn't care for unlimited/endless data at reduced speeds.

@morganbrowne The problem is I want to move up to the 25gb plan. I have no interest in losing out on my data sharing and increasing my total bill by $23/mo. I'm also not going to further extend this $23/mo by paying for my friends mobile plans. See the logic here? The new plans don't work for many of us. I know somebody at 2degrees can bump me back to my 25gb plan of which I am happy to camp out on but I am not going to move to a more expensive plan and lose data sharing which is a very useful feature.

I even said this a number years ago - I don't care about unlimited.

I know this was planned to get customers to give up on data sharing and rollover to increase 2degrees revenue but you're going to push many customers away. I'm actually already looking at other options because 2degrees have screwed me over more out of principal.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry that the new plans don't suit. As mentioned they were designed based on customer feedback and research we undertook. At this stage I'll pass your feedback and suggestions onto the team that looks after plans (product) for consideration. Thanks

I wouldn't mind seeing an option lower than 12gb, only because my phone (and shares) mostly live on Wifi hence the 10 gig option on the old plans was ideal.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll pass it on. The good news is you can still stay on the 10GB carryover plan at this stage if that's what suits you best. We've also still got our $40 carryover plan available.

Cheers,

In the meantime can you please find somebody to move me back to my original 25gb carryover plan? I believe @linux also wants to up his carryover plan. We've got no interest in moving to the new unlimited plans.

I spoke to retention earlier and they offered me an extra 5gb per month for 12mo. I asked them to make this 15gb with no expiry else let me pay more to move up to the 25gb plan - they said they'll escalate this and call me back. I'm hoping they make the right choice here.

You've got my mobile number anyway if you wish to follow up. This is a huge downgrade in plans especially since you're now matching Vodafone 1:1 which has never been the case. I understand this isn't your fault but it is frustrating to me as a customer that customer service reps can't see the logic behind my frustration.

Thanks Michael. If the team have escalated this for you, they'll do all that I can do at this stage. When you hear back and there's something different I can do, please let me know and I'll see what I can do :)

We're not matching any of the other guys or their plans - our plans do have the additional free hour of data each day at max speed until 40GB/m (separate allocation as mentioned) - so definitely a bit fairer.

Cheers,

Hi

That is really odd, a couple of us just checked our app and it doesn't look like this. Can you please advise your device, software and customer details to me via DM so we can look into this? Thanks heaps.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, latest build of the 2degrees app (still occurring also). Doesn't occur through the portal. May pay to track down this bug as if I was a dick (which I am not) this is likely grounds for a TDR case given I clearly signed up to 40gb rollover via the app.

Okay but Michael can't move back up to the 25gb carry over plan now and that's where it would be most cost effective and fair considering this move was done right under everyone's noses and I would be under the same boat if I was still a pay monthly customer since I do also care more about full speed data vs "unlimited". I'm putting it under quotes because sure you can call it unlimited but eventually it will slow down and 12GB is pretty low vs Kogan Mobile (15GB for $35 or 27.50/12mo) vs Spark (10gb for the same price as you) vs Vodafone (12gb for the same price as you).

For what it's worth I'd switch back if 15GB or 20GB a month at $50 was an option personally since I believe that's fair but this is a step in the right direction for some but not for all and for me it does not work out to be worth it.

The problem is that it feels like it is price matching. The hour of data feels like a gimmick - yes I understand that there is an extra 40GB there, but it requires a lot more friction from myself to leverage it. I'd much rather get extra data on the base plan even if it is only 10-20GB more than the competition.

As someone who has three mobiles out of six on a 2D pool plan, the price increase was definitely noticed. This change has really 'closed the gap' between VF and 2D for me... Coupled with the current offnet voice quality issues... the bundle bonus I get from my 2D Broadband is really the only tangible difference ($10/m).

I do hope when 2degrees launch something new like eSim or 5G that there will be no requirement to switch to these new plans

isn't this just a cycle, meaning 2degrees is just doing what every other telco have done in the past?

Then everyone leaves to another telco and after they upset their customers, then they switch again.

I remember when spark (then Telecom) was the evil telco and vodafone was the new kid on the block and everyone was with them.

Then 2degrees came on, people shifted as they were agile and offered things that disrupted the duopoly. it seems they are now cloning the plans of the other telcos.

They will soon realise a number of customers are with them because they WERE different. this seems to be no longer!
