Will this work with a custom rom?

Highly unlikely. You will need the official 2degrees firmware to have the settings pushed down.

2.8GB download from Sam mobile took about 4.5 hours (free download not paying for premium)

If anyone needs the official firmware for 2D Samsung S8+ I have it

And here are some screenshots showing where you might see the settings:

Note: even after you've got the update installed and turned it on, there's one more switch we have to flip in the core to enable the service. Currently that's off; we have a final regulatory hurdle to clear first but we expect sign-off on that soon.

Edit - now hopefully not stealing all your screenses.

Well, will have to test Mrs Freitasm's phone when back in NZ to see if there's anything there (even though apparently not supported).

The other driver here is that I think all of the networks have to add Voice over LTE support to provide voice over the 400 upcoming RBI2 rural mobile towers- and I suspect pretty much the same work involved for VoLTE as Wi-Fi Calling. Essentially exposing their voice gateways over SIP to the internet!

Yes, both VoWifi and VoLTE rely on the same core. The main differences are that in the VoLTE case you are authenticated directly as you are on a trusted access method, whereas in VoWifi you first have to setup an encrypted tunnel and then perform an untrusted authentication through the tunnel. After that, as we control the LTE network, we can install a QoS profile on the radio to ensure best quality of call. That doesn't work quite as well over the Internet.

Badly want this for my s6 but assume it is a while away if ever.

Here is my Quic referral https://account.quic.nz/refer/39513 if you are keen to change ISP and to get free setup (save $29). I will get a $50 credit if you use this.  Thank you very much if you use my link but I'm sure there are quite a few others who could share the same on here, no hard feelings if you use a different link.

Have a 2degrees S8 here and a new system update has become available today (has October's security update and wasn't available a couple of days ago when I manually checked). Have just installed it manually now, but there's nothing about Wifi Calling in the 'Connections' settings. However, it's currently has a Spark SIM card in it and I don't have a 2degrees card at hand. May go out and buy one tomorrow though as I'm off overseas for 5 weeks and have a Huawei Mobile Wifi hotspot with about 12GB of worldwide data left on it. Looks like a great alternative to roaming.

Just be aware it's not turned on yet. Should be pretty soon though!
