Delorean:

Agree, it's a personal opinion, and I respect yours. my perspective is based on the fact 2d has not correctly informed their current customers if they took up the endless data plans that they would be losing a number of "extras" e.g. shared data that was 2d USP. a number of advocates on this forum would agree that if they were informed correctly then it may not have been as bad with the reactions in this thread.

Yeah - it seems pretty clear a lot of people miss the shared data. Even worse is that the comms around this appear to have been not great with confusing/misleading (even if by error) info in the app for these plans - and no "hey this means xyz, are you sure?".

The new plans would have been fine if the data sharing was still there.  I don't really understand the reason to remove it when it would count to your fast limit anyway.  The only reason i can see it being removed is because people were sharing it with friends etc.  It would be great to have it back even if you have to reg the prepay sim with your account.  i.e. you can only share data if the sim / number is under your own account.

Vodafone just offered me $15 per sharer plus standard rrp for the 2nd lead plan for my 2D connections.

Sorry - 2D, the price difference and voice quality difference was a bit too much.

What base plan did you go on to?

$60 for 12GB endless. $10 off lead plan for 6 months too.

In total, I’ll have two pools: one 40GB pool and one 12GB pool.

Have you switched to Vodafone now.

So with Vodafone instead of paying $30 per sharer it’s $15 per sharer?

For example the Vodafone 40gb plan is $80 and to add a sharer it’s $15?

Correct. That’s what I was offered for bringing my remaining numbers across.

That is a good deal. $80 for the 40gb plan plus 3 shares that’s $15 each equals a total of $125 divide that by 4 people and that’s $31.25.

That’s probably the best deal for group unlimited plan for 40gb each person.

Did you call them or went into their store?

I’ve still got a complaint open with 2degrees to switch me back to my normal plan. They didn’t really read my original complaint and just sent through the following:

Thank you for your e-mail. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our new plans. We do understand that some people may prefer our old plans, however, we have come up with these plans as a way to simplify our plan line and give our customers more unlimited data options. We feel that this is the best way to move forward and provide our customers what they need. From a technical standpoint, there may be a way for us to give change your plan to one of the older ones, however, we will not be changing your plan to the retired $70 plan. We want to be consistent and fair with how we treat these disputes, and if we make an exception, this will leave us open to allowing other customers to make the same request.

This is the first time ever I’ve had this sort of service from 2degrees. It is just a plan change! I get a corporate deal from Vodafone so am seriously considering my options.

@Dochart - started through online chat. Got an agent within a few seconds and then he called me during the session to go through authentication and the details.

@michaelmurfy - wow. Just wow. I haven’t seen that much double speak since dealing with one of the ‘big guys’. If they said that to me, it would be churn in 3, 2, 1...

Awesome, thanks - just placed the order with Vodafone for my connections, 2Degrees, goodbye!

Always had those coverage oddities with 2Degrees, vs my work Vodafone anyway....  so this is very much a win.

Thanks for sharing!

Found this while looking for some more info on these.

I was on the $40 plan and ran out of data, so wanted to do my usual of moving up to the higher plan for a few months, accumulate some carry over data, then shift back down again.
Tried in the app and it wouldn’t let me as it said my account was overdue (it wasn’t, but my DDA was due that night and just hadn’t processed on their side yet).

I rang and found out the plans are all changed, first agent broke the news that the carryover is gone on the new plane and you can no longer share data.
I wasn’t happy with the new plans so asked to speak to someone about moving to prepay while I figured out what I wanted to do.

The person in retention told me:
- stay on current plan ($40) and get 2GB for nothing for a year or move to $60 plan
- in either case the carryover will still work only thing that changes is no shared data. Site is a little confusing so I’m not quite sure who to believe.

I moved onto the $60 plan to see what happens when billing cycle rolls over. But if carryover doesn’t happen I’ll be complaining and very likely leaving.
I also want to know who at 2degrees thought of that great idea. Now there’s only 1 plan that offers shared data, so why not just scrap it entirely if you’re so keen to stop people using it? And same for carryover, if only 1 pay monthly plan offers it its pointless for PM users.

They were so focused a while ago on selling the idea that other telcos are ripping us off by taking our unused data and not letting us share it etc. Now they’re just like them.
(In before “it’s unlimited you don’t need to carry over unlimited”, i want to carry over the full speed data that I don’t use)
