dontpanic42: How does one tell if one has an amtel or synaptics screen?
I'm running Oxygen ATM, so it's safe to say that it's not an amtel?

paulmilbank: That dialer method will work on stock rom, but not on custom. An app on the market called elixir 2 will show hardware. it is under a display menu somewhere.
I ran oxygen for a long time and loved it. Was fast and very stable. It runs a .32 (froyo) kernel heavily tweaked by DZO to be fast and battery efficient and caused no touchscreen problems. Camera is also good. It has a problem that has been a deal breaker for me with bluetooth though. For me it is slow and volume through bluetooth headset is distorted, but I cant confirm anyone else with the problem and despite swapping lib's and kernel, I could not fix it.
I have now installed Eliterom MIUI which has been really good. Everything works well and the camera is very good, only wifi tethering does not work.

Jonthekiwi: How are peoples' experience with the latest Huawei version? Is this recommended over another rom?
And, does the install typically wipe user data? I'll be doing a backup, but hoping that was merely a precaution.
PS - has anyone with the wifi dropping out issue found that the gingerbread resolves it?
