To discuss the changes brought about by 2Degrees in their pay montly plans

Now the plans called "carryover plans" include the 100 bonus minutes in the included minutes of the plan that can be rolled over at end of month and also the bonus data is now a thing of the past and you straight away get a huge chunk of national 3G data.

Oh National data not broadband zones only, that's a nice change :)

Bugger, have been meaning to switch to the $39 plan with a bonus 1GB data, now it's only 750 mb, bummer.

It's been like that for a while now(at least as long as I have been on a pay monthly plan).

Glad I signed up when I did as my current plan would be 250MB less if I signed up now.

I don't even use mobile data. I have a dumb "feature" phone and no real desire for it to be smarter. I couldn't stand the poor battery life, this one gets charged for 30 minutes every 3-5 days.

3-5 days on a 30 minute charge.. thats a dream for the smartphone owners..

With all the data to burn through in a month and these new phones being so data hungry, and to top that up, the telcos are encouraging the users to get onto using more and more data by giving more and more in their plans.. its too difficult to resist the temptation to use more and more data on the smart phones..

As for the plans changed by 2 Degrees, I reckon its a good move by them to keep their customers with them..

The retired plans are still available until 8/3.

But we cannot change to those "retiring" plans can we..?

Coz once we login to 2Degrees the change plan only gives options to the new "Carryover" plans..

Overage and international rates have gone up with the new plans and are now higher than the equivalent rates on prepay.

If we are still on the old plans do we pay the old overage/international rates or the new ones?

Hmm, not sure. The wording implies that they're still available, "from 8 March 2013 you will no longer be able to [...] re-sign to a new Pay Monthly Plan at the end of your fixed term" although I don't know what happens if you're not on a fixed term.

Great simplification, and apart from the 250mb drop for $39 plan, mostly just reclassification of the associated bits and pieces that have evolved over the last couple of years.

The 'big hand stealing your minutes' campaign used to bug me, when thats exactly what used to happen with bonus minutes!

Last on my wishlist is improvement to the whole minute billing, either per second billing, or at least something that makes me feel less hard done by for 1-2 second calls (mostly to voicemail).

Missed that part! What's the difference? or link?
Don't like to use those normally but it happens when you aren't vigilant

The wording does imply that those plans are still available but at the end of the fixed term we cannot resign to a new Pay Monthly plan.. I suppose it means that we have to re-sign to a carry over plan

Thats a good question, coz the new pricing is specifically for the carryover plans..

For data orientated users, $29 and $39 are slightly worse. $49 and above are all better.

With the exception of carryover minutes the offerings are very close to Telecoms open plans
