So I bought a nexus 4 on a 24 month pay monthly plan from 2degrees. And I was wondering - seeing as the nexus 5 will be out soon-ish, do you get the option to upgrade phones, like you get with Telecom and Vodafone?

You need to be 18 months into a 24 month contract before upgrading on Vodafone or Telecom so it would depend how far you are into your contract with 2Degrees,

You can't just upgrade when a new handset comes out when you feel like it

Hi, you upgrade any time but have to be in the last 90 days of your 24 month term to re-sign to a new plan without incurring plan change fees or ETCs.

What if I were to switch plans from a pay monthly to carryover and purchase the phone for a bit cheaper?

If you're on a no term retired Pay Monthly plan you can sign up to a 12 or 24 month term Carryover Plan and get a free phone or discount against a new one.    Switching is easy and you can do it all from Your 2degrees  which will take you to our online store to select the phone you want.

If you're on the retired Pay Monthly plans and just want to switch to a Carryover Plan, just call us on 200.
